Question Honda NX 250, Anyone know them?

I'm looking around for a starter bike for my son & came across a very clean 1988 Honda NX 250. Does anyone out there have any experience with this model?
Maintenance problems?
Value compared to others of same age/condition?
Accessories available?
Fun quotient?

Great little bike..will run forever. They also have a big brother in the 650 size..didn't sell well here in the states..wasn't cool or fast enough..One of the first baby GS's made by Honda..

Almost got one for the wife, but ended up with the VTR250..She liked the sportbike look and color..

Here in the states the bikes are going for about $1,500.00 to $2,500.00 US..don't know to much about aftermarket items..The bike is a little old for that..Anything that's out there you might still be able to get from Honda..

Double check the tire size and make sure that you still get them..

Good luck

hey cool

i own one and it's great! i would be curious to know how you found one with no kilometers on it and how much did you pay? these bikes are full proof. the cdi box will be something to replace as they all seem to have that problem eventually but other than that, a really solid runner.

There is an ongoing thread concerning this bike in "Thumpers."

just got one... love it. Mine's been maintained well and kept pretty clean. Low miles, too. I paid less than $2000.

It's quick off the line and cruises at 80... with plenty left to go.

Haven't had it in the dirt much, but I'm not that hardcore so cruising around on trails is about my speed and this little bike will do that all day.

Tales of the CDI failures abound on the internet. Mine's cool so far... but good to know.

Until I'm ready for a big beefy Dual Sport BMW, this is my go to.

What's That, he said

I just saw one out at Clear Lake, near Spokane. I gave it a double-take thinking I had to look it up when I got home. It looked like such a cool little bike.
