No actually I wanted to post that for Sallydog. My experience with a Blackberry "smart phone" was torturous. I was back to the store three times just to try and figure out how to take a photo, store it on Photobucket, and then post it on a web page. If I was lucky, there'd be one person at the Verizon store that knew how to spell his own name.

At the Menlo Park Apple store today, there were 80, that's right 80 young techies there to help people set up their computers and buy gadgets. Unbelievable.

Chris, do you get that kind of live, free support for your Droid at the local discount computer place?

p.s., Careercast.com just rated software engineer as the number one job for 2011. Surgeons were on the 10 worst list!

android users dont need that kind of help. i shoot the picture and tap the smugmug icon.... done. do they help teach you how to brush your teeth and wipe your ass or do you have to run to moms house for that?

Apple's iPhones may seem more cool, but the Google-backed Android phones are much more popular in the United States. In 2011, Android's U.S. market share was 53 percent, compared to 29 percent for the iPhone, according to the research group NPD

It's a cycle.
Where? Besides a dirt road?

Maybe there's hope for me buying a big boy bike yet, that's been my job for 35 years, area of expertise operating systems for everything from SIM cards to supercomputers, including phones. However, the life of the majority of new software engineers these days is sitting in a cubicle grinding out crap code to order without having any creative input (that includes Google, etc.).

IMHO, there's major suckage inside both Android and Apple smartphones. The business models are different, you pays your money and you takes your choice, but where the suckage gets you is just in a different place.

I tried to stay out of this last week, but the relentless joy of the holiday season has worn me down.

And yes, I have met Steve Jobs while he was still alive.

Great Movie....

O.K., I've never seen a movie before that was better then the book, but this one is:

And Lisbeth rides a righteous old beater dual sport british bike with TKCs! In the rain. In the snow.

Now, THAT is one tough woman!

And the sound track is spectacular:

"Trent Reznor, of Nine Inch Nails, composed the music with producer-musician Atticus Ross, the same team behind "The Social Network" score, which won them a Golden Globe and an Oscar.

"For the last 14 months, Atticus and I have been hard at work on David Fincher's The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," Reznor wrote earlier this month on the Nine Inch Nails website. "We laughed, we cried, we lost our minds and in the process made some of the most beautiful and disturbing music of our careers."

p.s., Lisbeth does NOT wear a tiara in the movie. Only tattoos and piercings.....:loll

And a pretty neat T-shirt with the ADV slogan on it!

Happy New Year to you too

Your question is its own answer. I guess I have lower expectations.

SOME of those dirt roads are jaaaacckkkked up...but they're still dirt roads...and sometimes they're hard for me to ride. And I like that, it's fun for me.

See, it's like that.
