I investigated the Honda Fit a few years ago. To option it the way I wanted it, the price was right around $20,000.00. Add to that the rated fuel economy was lackluster for the size of the vehicle. Further, Honda's have always been the most boring cars to drive IMHO. I had never even thought about Subaru until passing the stealership one day and dropped in for a test drive. The rest is history. The last few years they have seriously upped their reputation from builders of econo-boxes to nicely appointed drivers cars. I'd buy another, if only they'd bring their diesel here.

I got mine a few years ago for 15K. No frills. Stick shift. Air-conditioning. Power windows and door lock. CD player. All standard. Seemed like a luxury car compared to the bare bones Saturn I had with roll-up windows!

It certainly is a utility transport, sort of like the original VW bugs. If I had extra money, I'd get a Subaru Rally Car for sure. And then never use it's capabilities. But check out the resale value on the Fits. Amazing!

I want a car thats reasonably sensible but can also be a bit of fun. The VW seems to fit that, and the price is right. I am going to test the GTI as well.

I agree the VWs' are real driver's cars especially w/a manual transmission...I recall test driving one a couple yrs ago...huge fun factor while still being practical and functional... Subies are cool too...I had an '97 Outback and loved it....still not as much fun as a GTI/GLI

Who ever said a car was practical
This is what you need

Probably costs less than that over engineered German cage

And it'll stay that way if you're still asking 15k for it.

For you, Jason, since you are such a sweet young thing, it would be just $14,999!

For anyone else, best offer before I trade it in this spring....

Andy, that Ducati of yours is pretty sweet!
