Laugh Scream'n Beaver DS Ride 8/21-8/23

Scream'n Beaver Dual Sport Ride
August 21 through 23
Crawford Campground
Murphy, NC

The short:

Where: Crawford Campground around Murphy, NC.
When: August 21-23 (Friday and Saturday Kickstands up @ 8:30am)
Who: A few crazy inmates and you!
What: Dual sport riding with various water crossings. Routes will be determined by the types of bikes and rides. Mostly FS road stuff.
Why: You need a weekend out of the house and some saddle time on your bike. Otherwise a excuse to meet some fellow ADV'ers.

The Long:
It is time to get dirty!!! I am putting together a dual sport run for the week of 8/21 through 8/23.The starting location for the ride will be Crawford Camp Ground in Murphy, NC. I have stayed here before and ridden with the owner, Tellico Camper, who is a ADV member. Fees for camping are listed on the site. Two shower houses and even a few cabins to rent for you not so rustic type. (I have no affiliation with the camp ground besides tearing up there grass once.... or twice. )
http://www.crawfordsattellico.com/

This ride is open to bikes of all sizes and riders of all skill level. The routes will be determined by the size of the bikes and number of riders. If a lot of GS's or KLR's show up the route will be more twisty two track stuff. Should it be single bore bikes, the route will move more towards a mix of single track and two track stuff.

The tentative ride schedule at this time is two daily rides. One ride on Friday and one on Saturday. These are usually a full day worth of riding and the show typically starts around 8-8:30am the day of the ride. Lunch and fuel stops are planned accordingly. No fear for us smaller in the tank riders (gas tanks that is...) as fuel stops are well within the 90 mile range of my XRL.

If you are interested in joining up I would ask that you post up in this thread and contact the campground to make reservations.

The List:

I will update this post with the head count as folks post. Looking forward to seeing some of you there!

Nothing had been planned in stone but a day ride could be planned. There is a ton of good riding in this area and Sunday might be a good day for the single bore bikes to tear on some single track stuff. I would figure most folks will arrive Friday night for a Saturday ride. If enough folks stick around for Sunday then we could throw down another run through the hills.

+1 on Crawfords Campground

Crawfords is becoming the Dual Sport and Road Riding hub of WNC, ETN and NGA. I've been there 3 times and it keeps getting better and better. Can't make it up anymore this year but I'll make up for it next summer. For more pics and info check out these threads: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...=374235&page=3 and www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=426339

Edited- 08/10/09.

I would love to go but will be out of town on business that week. I am tentative at best since I will be there only for a ride on Saturday, if I decide to go.

Mike Honcho,
I'll be a daytripper from Robbinsville,NC.
I stopped by MiniMike's TMO yesterday and he was not aware of the ride. He said that he would call Danny.
I also posted the ride on the TW200 forum and will post on XT225.com.

I can't make this one, but would highly recommend it to any of those who are "on the fence". Keep us posted if you are doing another one in the fall.

Wanderer13,
If you guys want to ride a weekend in the fall, just let me know when you guys want to ride. Just make it a get together/ride weekend. Check out the leaves and such. Maybe sneak into town for some local night life. It would be cool to see the gang again.
