WTB- In Europe...?

It was suggested that i post this here rather than the original flea market, in the hopes of finding better response, so here we are! Thanks for any help!

Quick question:
It was recently suggested to me that buying a bike that happens to be in Europe right now, from an American owner would be easier than my original (& previously executed) plan of buying one elsewhere, riding, then selling it.

So- here I am in the "flea market" and Im not seeing any that fit that criteria? Any suggestions?

BTW- Im looking for the typical adventure bike with panniers and or top box. ie. Tiger, GS, Vstrom, etc. (& probably any ducatis just cause I love em!)

thanks for any help!

I just recently bought a used bike in Germany (and still trying to figure out the paperwork with advrider inmate help), so have recently gone through this search myself. I did a few things:

Subscribed to the sticky thread at the top of this forum for European bikes for sale so I'd get notified of any activity on there.

I also started checking various european cities on www.craigslist.org and added the motorcycle listings to my rss feeds. From the amount of motorcycles listed on craigslist for european cities, it's obviously not as widely used as it is here in the states, but there are lots of ads for bikes in english, regardless of where they are, and several with american owners. I ended up buying one listed in frankfurt from a fellow oregonian.

I think if one of these options didn't work out, I probably would have tried to find out what sources the locals are using to publish their ads. Google can also be a big help with it's translation of pages.

Hey- that's great advice! thanks! I didn't even realize craigslist existed outside of the USA. I'm not terribly picky either- just need some transportation and a great deal so I can recoup some of the expense! I have several friends in various countries over there, but it would be great if there were a listing of resources per country. ie. New Zealand has the ebay equivalent called "Trademe" which I found to be the most popular. I'd guess each country has a leading resource like that.
thanks again!

GS for sale in UK

If you are thinking of buying a GS in the UK its worth checking out the GSERSUK site! There are always a couple up for grabs and it will give you an idea of the prices even if you dont buy.
