That's one of the few Landrover 'WOLF' Milspec Defender 110 HT XD.

Ranulph Fiennes also used them in Expeditions.
They have a reinforced rear axle and a reinforced bed, and the milspec 4cyl. 300tdi (kerosene compatible)...
The full external/connected internal Rollcage by Safety Devices has also been added on these models. The LR Wolf / Defender 130 wheels also never came as a standard on regular Defender 110s (16x6.5" instead of 16x5.5").
The Wolfs or XDs also came with the special Air intake which can be seen on the front left and right fenders. However, on later XD/Wolf/TUM there was a normal snorkle installed.
This particular one has the Wolf Air intakes (left and right) plus Mantec Snorkle AND the mil. arctic heater intake cover (on top of the right side fender.)

turbo(garret)charged, 4 cly. diesel; maybe 3.2 Litre ??? but will check back on that. could be 2.8 L !!!
coil springs,11" disc's all round and diff locks, continuous WD, bosch alternater spat a diode in the regulator once, after couple wades though mangrove swamp (king tide) then drove 2700 km with the battery light glowing on the dash.
no problem apart from that I have blown a few tyres.
3 in 5 years - 80,000 km 90% outback dirt roads.

The only BMW engine offered in a Defender was the 2.8l M52 fitted to South African Landrovers. It was a straight six petrol engine, 24valve DOHC, producing 142kw & 280nm.

The 1997 Defenders usually had the 300tdi Diesel engine. However, the Australian versions (especially the mil spec) might have had an ISUZU Diesel engine.

I was under the impression the TD5 was a BMW developed engine as well. The military "Perentie" (SP) was fit with an Izusu motor.

The Td5 was developed by Landrover. It was almost finished when BMW took over.

The 2,8 diesel is currently made in Brazil under license ...basically a 2,5 300tdi bored out....in fact a friend here ran one in the Dakar in a Disco body and finished the race with all being OK,bar a drop in bhp from that of a petrol engine...

If you mean "out" and work on a Land Rover, that's exactly what I was doing. Trying to put back together a 53 year old truck is always fun. Today's fun was trying to figure out how to reinstall the cooling system. Fun stuff.
