Did Toluca to Guadalajara with a detour recommended by a user here!

Hi,

Enjoyed a few nights in Toluca, then rode to Ciudad Hidalgo to do the road through the mountains to Morelia. The ride was nice, but not as dramatic as many others I´ve been on in Mexico this trip, so I didn´t even stop to take pix. Was doing 120mph on the Autopista from Morelia toward Guadalajara and stopped for gas. Was about to start blazing back down the autopista when a French dude at the Pemex station noticed my tire looked pretty low. I checked it out and had a nail! Man! So lucky he pointed it out! I didn´t notice and would have been blasting down the autopista at high speed and would have certainly crashed!

Then onto Guadalajara via cuota. These cuotas are killing me!!! It cost me $500ps just in cuotas from Toluca to Guadalajara. Funds getting so low I´m staying in whats turned out to be a brothel in Guadalajara because it was the only affordable room I could find after 3hrs of looking. Also looked in Ttalaquepaque and they wanted $400ps a night for a dive. Sorry, I´ll be fine with the hookers thank you very much. What the ¨f¨ happened that drove up the prices so much in this area? Makes me angry that the Mexican government if making a killing with Pemex and Cuotas alone, but the poor indigenous have to sit around with burned faces and various missing limbs, diseases, etc. because the Mexican government takes so much and gives so little back to people. I know the U.S. is just as bad... taking everything... giving away all the public funds to banks and car makers... but won´t cough up money for universal healthcare for the very folks they´re robbing blind!

Still, I thought the Mexican people had a history of not taking this kind of BS and raising their machettes to the ¨man¨ in the streets of D.F. when it got bad enough. Now, the Mexican people seem to be just accepting the thievery just like the rest of the world is. When will people finally say enough? Or, will they ever? I think maybe those with all the military, and police forces, and lying communication outlets simply won and there´s nothing anyone can ever do about it but keep our heads down. The only shining hope I see is the Iranian people standing up to their oppressors, but its looking like they will lose as well.

I saw some very intimidating looking supercop here in Guadalajara in a black uniform, black face mask, bullet proof vest, heavily armed... and riding a flat black V-Stom 650! Looked kinda cool I have to say.

One of the cops in Morelia helped me find the highway to Guadalajara by escorting me to the turn off. The cops there were riding those old style Harley´s but not the big fat ones. They were all riding those slightly chopped looking ones with the tear drop gas tanks. Looked strange, but also kinda cool too!

Anywho, I updated my travelblog with more photos, text, video, audio for anyone interested: http://skiphuntvagabond.tumblr.com

Heading toward Colima and up the coast manana. Will be passing through PV in a couple days for a couple days or so before pushing on. Would really like to get back to the peace of the desert to consult with my buddy mescalito before heading back to Tejas. ;-)

Your pics had brought back a lot of good memories and the desire to start planning a trip to my hometown. Your work is amazing.
