already posted this in the australian section... a very tongue in cheek video about adventure riding. harley davidson and cruiser riders may be offended... i was having a go at mates who ride those bikes, but seriously anyone who is on two wheels has their own slice of motorbike heaven imho.

I'd like to pretend I understand exactly what he did to slide the rear out like this, and to make it effective, but while I'd guess he gassed it as... ??? (downshifted, or was it the downshift without throttle sliding the rear?), I don't have a clue.

Midnight ride through Peekskills | Pitchblack Twisties

April 3, 2014. Midnight Ride Through Bear Mountain Bridge and PeeksKill Mountain.

@3:10 scenic stop
@4:00 pitch black begins
@10:00 bear mountain bridge and the pitch black twisties begin
@12:50 something flashes to my right in my peripheral vision and I think it's a deer because I cannot see crap and just passed a deer crossing sign. I panic go to the other lane moving away from the right side, hit the brakes and then haul ass.

Rode up 9W, crossed bridge, then rode 9A and Sawmill back to Manhattan.

Lessons learned:
- New Jersey roads are more fun when there is no traffic
- There is no traffic on 9W after 10:00PM
- 90% of 9W is pitch black after 10:00PM
- Twisties are not fun when it's pitch black. Your headlights never light the curve or the end of the turn and you turn blindly. Extremely, extremely dangerous
- When you are coming down the mountain, and you can't see the turn because it's pitch black, and you have been juggling high beam / low beam because of oncoming cars and you have seen a "deer crossing sign" a second ago and when you are leaning into a tight turn - if you see something flashing for a second on the side of the road behind the bushes on the side that you are leaning in, you panic - period! You try to get away from it thinking that it's a deer and maybe it is. You increase your radius, leap to the other lane and hit the brakes and straighten up to see the end of the curve and shoot like a rocket out of there.
- Peekskill is one crazy scary mountain when it's pitch black.
- Amazing, amazing fun

Also, when it's pitch black and it's a sharp twist, you instinctively try to turn sooner and sharper so that your headlights would illuminate the end of the curve sooner. Weird instinct. I started noticing it early on that I was leaning in too soon and too fast - not like me. And then I noticed that I don't do it willingly. I instinctively want to illuminate the end of the curve as soon as possible and that's why I am leaning so sharp into the twisties. I tried to correct it; the video is about an hour into the night.
