A very stupidly done eBay listing for an interesting pair of bikes with a LOT of history.

Note that the pirice is "35K or Best Offer - I don't know what their Reserve is, but I'd guess around 15-17K - which is still a Ton-O-Bread, but these are pretty rare, original, Triumphs, there's a ton of NOS spares, and they have some movie background too.

Cheers

eBay goes NUTZ!

Some very amusing and interesting rigs on FleaBlight right now:

This looks like a pre-IMZ Ural sidecar in decent mechanical shape, needs paint, lenses, and interior - the price is pretty good 'tho, there's no reserve, and the seller will put it on a palette for $50:

http://tinyurl.com/cm6lnq

Next up is a "Kustom, Killer, Khopper, Quack, Quack, Blah-Blah, Woof-Woof!

http://tinyurl.com/d5z3ng

Not normally my cup-o-tea, but there are some very mechanically interesting ideas - note the frame, the front suspension, and the see-through gas tank. Note also that the engine is currently lunched.....

And now for the rig that I really wanted to talk about:

http://tinyurl.com/cgmfrz

A 2006 Suzuki DL-1000 'Strom with Ural sidecar - low miles, pretty complete and clean setup - I believe that it's been rigged wih full Dauntless subframe and mount kit - although it looks like the chair was originally on a BMW Oilhead.

I don't think this rig will go for peanuts, but right now it's way under market value.

Cheers

More info of the 'Strom

An update on this rig:

http://tinyurl.com/cgmfrz
A 2006 Suzuki DL-1000 'Strom with Ural sidecar - I talked to Jay Giese of Dauntless tonight, and he confirmed that the mounts, subframe, Ural sidecar, hydraulic sidecar disc brake, and the 'Leading Legs' trail modification came from Dauntless, but the outfit was rigged by a "Company in Florida who seemed to know what they were doing."

The rig was traded in on a new car, apparently something unfortunate happened to the owner and they could not ride the rig - Jay says: "The car and components cost way more than the lot's asking price which was around $8,000"

I think that this is a heck of a deal for someone who wants to do some long-distance travel over mixed roads on a well-sorted out sidecar outfit.

Cheers

Jim

Wow! Anyone know more about this rig? I'd love to do a fly and ride on this thing. It would suit my riding style more than my Harley rig.
I'm assuming this is a Ural chair?

Yup - looks like the reserve was around $8000 - I'm thinking that if some enterprising and adventurous sort were to walk into:

Integrity Auto Sales of Port Orange, Fla

http://www.integritypreowned.com/index3.html

Acting just a BIT drunk, and waving $100 bills - that they'd either wake up nude and smiling in the gutter, or be the plowed new owner of a nifty 'Strom rig for a bit under $8 Kilo-buckazoids....

Cheers

spent much of the evening trying to talk the wife into a version not too unlike that...the $8k bit not the gutter bit. No dice.

Strom/Ural rig on Ebay

The bike is sold. (Several hours after the auction ended)

I know what the price was, but, in case the buyer is an ADVer, I will defer from saying what it was and let him speak up. I spoke with Jim (the seller) both during the auction, and today. Straight-up guy, had no knowledge of sidecars, and was shocked by the prices I told him today. I was seriously considering buying it for close to his "Buy it Now" price of $8,495.00, but it would cost $800 to ship it to Washington state, and I'm two weeks post back surgery with a yet-to-be-determined outcome, although things seem to be progressing well enough. If not for the back problem, I would have bid $7,750. Turns out that was below his reserve, but not much. He said the rig went to a "gentleman from Utah" who called him with a hundred questions during the bidding. I'm glad it found a good home!

Crap! I was going to call that guy back and make an $8000 offer. Too late!
I'm having non-buyers remorse!

Sidecar trinkets-blatant spam warning!

This is pretty blatant spam, for which I apologize in advance. AceRph, if you think I should delete it or move it to Vendors, let me know and I will.

There isn't much in the way of sidecar paraphernalia available, so my brother has set up a Cafe Press store for Adventure Sidecar. We will have T-shirts and coffecups with various sidecars available. The rigs will change as Andy gets different photos together that we like.
