I know who the sell is, buyer beware
2003 green Kawasaki KLR650 with Dauntless Enduro Didecar, Rig is owned by a wanabe Dneper dealer Theo who claims he can sell you a new Dneper, they have been out of business for years, lol. All I saw was a yard full of old lawnmowers.
We saw the bike, it's in Yuba City California, think the advertisemt originally said it had 1,800 miles, turned out to have more that 2,400, still no big deal. As story goes belonged to a 81 year old gentleman in Colorado who rolled it in a ditch and family told him he had to add a sidecar or no bike, bike still shows roll over damage to plastic. Sidecar and sub frame is from Dauntless and claimed to be installed in Colorado, attachment hardware was adjusted with a pipewrench and it shows. Bike sports Maine licence plated, current owner claims to be a trucker with dual residence in California and Maine. Theo claims the older gentleman wanted a sidecar rig with reverse so he traded him the Dneper for the KLR, if this is true, he knowingly ripped off a senior citizen, this realy pisses me off, what a low life. Dauntless Enduro model sidecar is low budget model, Ural wheel, no sidecar brake. Current owner/seller has U-Bolted a makeshift trailer hitch and was originally listed with an old motorcycle trailer, like it could realy pull it, especially with all the junk attached, good thing is you'll probably loose 90% of all that crap around the first turn. The original asking price was $5,000 for bike and sidecar, not worth it. Seller is shady character. I tried to explain to him that an out of state vehicle with less than 7,500 miles is considered new and must have 50 state smog sticker (California) to be registered in California, he claimed I was trying to rip him off, he said, his friend does it all the time with jeeps, NOT, California DMV will in fact document the vehicle and permamently bar it from future registration. CA DMV further states "if you buy the vehicle with less than 7,500 miles and drive it until you get 7,500 miles, including altering the odometer to read 7,500 miles the vehicle will be barred from registration. We offered to buy only the sidecar, which he agreed to sell, but came back with an offer of in excess of NEW full retail price $3000.00 Ha; because it is rare an unique and you want it now. WHAT BS. If you want one just call Jay at Dauntless and he will make you one. boatmole screwed with this post 05-25-2009 at 10:44 PM |

The sidecar is .....ahhh....different, somewhat homely as is the whole rig, looks like the builder may have been influenced by LSD or other psychoactive drugs..... I just get this strange feeling in the pit of my stomach when I look at it. |

W650/Velorex on FleaBay
Just saw this rig:
come up on eBay - a low-mileage Kawasaki W650 with a Velorex 562 - here's a TinyURL to the listing: http://tinyurl.com/mlhqx4 I don't know who set the rig up, and can't see enough in the pictures to make out if there's a subframe, or if they used the Velorex 'universal' clamp mounts, but it does look fairly well done. I really like the W650 as a mid-sized tug - it's got a gutty engine with gobs of torque, a stout 5-speed gearbox, and a nicely welded double-downtube frame that looks more like a Norton Featherbed, than a Triumph 'Magic-fingers.' This could be a well-sorted and competent alternative to either an older BMW/Velo combo, or a Royal Enfield/Cozy rig and would be worthwhile checking out if you're looking for an oufit around $6K that could putter around town, have a realisitc 75MPH cruising speed, and still look like a traditional motorcycle. SOLD! for $5,500 - not a bad deal at all.... Cheers Jim Dr Jim screwed with this post 06-29-2009 at 09:51 PM |

Kawasidecar
Nice deal on that one, lots of extras and goodies, the three hooters girls come with it.....
Tank under sidecar may reduce frame clearance but it would have to be looked at to see if and how much it does. W650's are nice bikes for sure look just like the old Triumphs but don't leak, start easily and don't shed parts while traveling the roads... If you can, grab it.....heckuva deal! |
