I was pissed! My watch only gave me like 13700 ft or so. I was bummed. I also am amazed that I didn't catch you on your way down. I know you were in a hurry, but you must have done some cross country on the trails...

Yep, left Monday morning and took 2 days to ride back north. Headed west on 120 through Yosemite, slabbed it north for awhile to Redding, then headed west on 299 to the coast. North on 101 through the rest of Calif and Oregon.

Got the stock one back on for now. I need to send my other back to Ernie to have him bend it back into proper shape. It just doesn't fit quite right, and I don't have a big enough vise to straighten it out right.

Saturday's Ride:

Here's a few pics of the camp Sat morning...

I was heading out with Joel's SoCal group on the ride to Bodie.

Heading north on Owens River Road
Zen Slug???

Steve

Tomer

h8chains

Sopascat

DannyG

I would recognize the face under the helmet, but don't remember the name - maybe Randy?

Steve

Sopascat

Randy?

Wasn't long before we were on some of the atv trails on both sides of 395 heading north

Eventually, we hopped onto pavement for awhile and gassed up in Lee Vining. Then we took Virginia Lakes Road for some dirt north towards Bridgeport.

At one point, we came to a Y in the road and Joel thought both roads would meet up so I took the left fork and went ahead to find a spot to take pics. Here's a few while I was waiting for the rest of the group to show up...

I guess while they were waiting for everyone to show up at the Y, they found out that the fork I took was a dead-end so they sent Zen Slug to find me...

Then it was into Bridgeport for lunch.

Joel posted some pics of our stop in Bridgeport for lunch.

After lunch, we headed out on the Aurora Canyon road and then the Geiger Grade to Bodie. Fun roads - sbbillder (Bill) and I were running pretty fast out in front, and didn't bother stopping until we hit this crew that were dealing with a flat.

I left them my tarp and pump to help deal with it, and then we headed on to Bodie.

Once I got to Bodie, Bill asked if I always ran low pressure in my tires - AND I DON'T! Turns out, I had picked up a nail on the run into Bodie and my rear was flat. Luckliy, another rider in our group had a pump and I had a tube, and we fixed the tire there at Bodie. Thanks to DannyG and the others for help with that. Joel posted pics earlier of that fun.

Needless to say, I didn't see much of Bodie. Once I fixed the flat, we were off down Cottonwood Canyon to head back south. Again, we went quite a ways before stopping for some pics with Mono Lake in the background.

Bill rides his GS really well!

Bill took a pic of me...

Joel and others start pulling up...

We took a pretty sandy road east towards the highway. Some went on to the campsite; but Joel, Bill and I took a scenic drive on the June Lake Loop and then into Mammoth for some pretty good pizza (and to watch a few of the girls in town for the Brewfest).

gary's foreskin got caught between the zips.... ; while espi avoiding to see the grimace on tdm's face

where ever joefromsf shows up, flat becomes inevitable

the proof and i got more....

i'm loving everyone's company

the norcal group with socal's espi (green vest).....

eran's color coordination was off that day; but what a beautiful day it was.

larry's fate was sealed after shaking hands with joefromsf...

how to break a bead the ktm way in 2 steps

step 1, use a 640A

step 2, finish the other side with a 690E

if sito's not around, expect dannyG to step up....

at the same time, the other larry has serious tire problem too; nixel ended up getting the truck to haul the bike back to camp

larry used up all our time to enjoy bodie , soon after the boys are ready to ride; hey eric, i think the 990S is too tall for you...

I just set the camera on "pano mode" & it does the rest!

Thanks!

my canon got destroyed by the sand and dust on sat afternoon. before that, another canon got soaked in rain and eventually broke down too.

i just bought a new pentax model...optio w80, not sure how good as far as pic quality, but it's suppose to be water, dust and shock proof just liket the olympus tough 8000 for less money.

more pics.....

sat afternoon ride, just north of mono lake

the plan was to take horse meadows from tioga pass to june lake and was confronted by this sign.... , it didn't look official, but anyway, we decided not to trespass

the june lake loop ride was smooth and scenic

bill and larry while we were looking for another trail that will take us to mammoth scenic road

when we got to mammoth lakes, there was a music festival, and bill used his good looks to charm this chick to pose for a pic.

after having pizza in mammoth, we took sherwin creek on the way back to the 395
