Addding Memory to my Zumo 550

I added a SD 500 MB memory card to my Zumo 550. I'm trying to download a map of Mexico that requires about 260 MB of memory.

Mapsource doesn't dedect the added memory card and says I don't have enough space to download the map.

I plan on calling Garmin on this, but I would greatly appreciate any help.

Have u tried another memory card?

don;t think i've seen a 500mb sd card before, is it an old one?

Try the memory card in a card reader/

Hope that helps.

Try a card reader. Sometimes older cards won't be seen by Mapsource if they're in the Zumo already.

Or is is a SD HC card and the Zumo has an old firmware from before it supported the HC cards.

Memory is cheap now- Go Large! I use a Transcend 4gig card and it has the Topo map, all of my stored routes and all my MP3's on it. I think you can now purchase a 4 gig SD card for around $20.00 now.

There is no such thing as a 500 MB HC card. Hell, I never even heard of a 500 MB SD card.

People have reported using cards up to 16 gig successfully. But keep in mind, the Zumo limit of 1000 mp3's.

Some brands of SD cards just will not work in GPS'S even tho they work in Camera's, I have older SANDISK cards that work great and the newer ones will not work in the GPS,Lately I have been using DANE ELECTRIC cards that work fine,TARGET has them
Good Luck

I have used a 16Gig Sandisk card, but the route recalculation & some other functions got slow and hinky. Also took to spontaneously rebooting. It was very annoying.
