Here's a link to my photos from the event. Not great photos - my camera battery died after just two shots, so the rest were on an i-Phone https://picasaweb.google.com/1114984...olishedRockers

Congrats on the award. Mixed feelings?

Cheers. Show went off! and stoked with the award - perfect category for me I think.

New sml panniers & Headlight ears

I rolled up some new tapered tubes and welded some headlight ears from an earlier bike to them - much better look than the nasty clamps I had.
Panniers tins are handy round town too.

They look very cool.

i have been looking at making/ reworking the subframe for Berlina. i was hoping to end up with a seat as slimline as yours however the twin shocks make the subframe very squat.

Yeh can do. I just made a twin shock subframe for a chap down south - I tapered it a little and, even keeping the same shock mount positions it wasn't too fat. Mounting the shocks in single shear on a surdy boss makes them thinner.
That had a Nitro Heads seat on it, so more curved than slim.

Just finished and ready for aging to make it match the rest of the engine.

Engine Cover

It is sand cast alluminium. I'm gonna put one on each of my bikes and have tried them on 4 different starter motors (2x Valeo and 2x Bosch) to make sure they fit well.

Seems a shame to hog them for myself, now that I have moulds made, so I can have some more made if others are keen and I can get 5 or so orders to justify the casting/machining/sand blasting costs
- PM me if you want one NZ$300

Thats some fine looking work, how are you going to age it to match?

I use spray on oven cleaner (caustic soda) for a few minutes then wash in lots of water with the hose. That makes it a bit darker and oxidizes it to loose the fresh sand blasting look. I then heat it and coat it with used oil and leave it to cool before cleaning with wd40 and wipe off with a rag. The rest takes time and road miles. This gets the colour much closer but it is hard to get an exact match as the alloy isn't the same as the crank case.
If you look back at some earlier posts you can see my old cover and the effect I got on it.

Just finished reading this entire thread and have to say while you went for a rat bike and I do like that. Your result has hidden a lot of the technical hurdles and innovative ideas you came up with BO. Well done.
