Gonna catch up with this riding report? Still waiting on you to catch up!

Wonder what is your plan knowing the current state is in Venezuela?

Hey, good to see that you got your steel out and better for it. Any trips coming up? I'm looking at shipping to Europe early next year. I finally got a chance to get my screws out this year as well, still got one in though, snapped the heads off most of them!

Canadian immigration putting the brakes on the gold mining in the Yukon but hoping to get there in a week or two, catch you later.

I hoping for a tire iron but it may not be tough enough. At the very least it serves as a good reminder of what not to do.

My dad has an old skeleton in a closet and I think I might just rob the tib/fib and do a little fixation for a nice wall piece Hope I won't be needing anymore pieces of that said skeleton in the future

*Edit 'osteogenesis' My speeling sucks

I'm sure I will come up with something nice for those pieces, I just damn happy they aren't in my leg anymore

Thanks for the kind words I still have a whole bunch of 'old' adventures to get caught up with first just to get up to that point I crashed out and this whole mess started

One of this days, it's always something and it never quits. I'll do my best to get it caught up before I get back down to Venezuela and take off on the bike again

I'll just deal with Venezuela when I get there, I hope they keep the gas near free or at least below a dollar. That country above all others in South America has the ability to be the best, I really hope things get better sooner.

Sorry to hear about the hold up with the Canadians, I was thinking about coming up

Just sent you an email. You're welcome here anytime and I'll be working on getting down under one of these days.

I got the real Big Mexican Whore refit with a newer clutch from Venezuela, new driveshaft, and new super duty subframe with some other bits.

Yeah I got it back together

Me and the gf are doing some practicing...

Finally

Great to see your back.

Now leave the Girl Friend alone and finish the damn ride report. If this keeps up much longer you won't remember anything except Cheap Gas. I think you must of inhaled to much of it.

All the best to you.

That's a very hard thing to do Jeff She keeps me busy working hard and doesn't quite understand all this ADV stuff just yet We're headed down to Greenwood, MS this weekend for a wedding and then we are coming down near you on the Coast first of the week to hit the beach and then to the BigEasy before heading home, I've got me a country girl that hasn't got to travel much that I'm going to show the World, hopefully mostly on a bike, but sadly not this go around.

I'll tell her she has to let me get this caught up, maybe's she just a little jealous of all these Colombian, Venezuelan, and Brazilian hotties that are coming up in the report I'll never be the same....

Just might?? No, I love it down there!!

And FYI, this sign has changed! Something to do with potential lawsuit due to "false advertisement". I forgot the owner's name but I think it started with S? He will have to explain it to you when you get back to Medellin..

Making my 3rd and final trip to Medellin very soon then the next time I am in Colombia, I will have my bike...

Might have to wait a little longer. John and his lady are in Orange Beach visiting the beach and we just got through visiting the Naval Aviation Museum at Pensacola Naval Air Station. The poor old cripple just went to take a nap.

Sorry iPhone photo, you get what you get.

No VISA for you Damn Yankee!!!

A lot out of order but so it is; So a lot has happened since my breaking the leg down in Venezeula back in July 2012

+ I finally moved out of my old man's house after 36 years, the key to easy travel

+ I got the metal removed a little over a year ago which had never felt great and then a wonderful feeling of immediate relief and now feel at least 95% recovered from the mess more than a year since having it removed.

+ Got married back on 12/13/14 to the greatest woman in the world, my #1

+ Been working on house remodeling projects for the new nursery and staying busy with Sleep Clinic work and cattle along with anything else that comes my way.

I've keep in touch regularly with Silviu "SS in VNZL" on here who has graciously stored my first wife at his home in Caracas for the last few years. Since the birth of my first child is coming up soon he and I thought it best for me to try and return to finally get the moto back home where it belongs, it is priceless to me and has been a big love of my life for years taking me to see wonderful places and allowing me to meet too many to even remember wonderful people on our journeys. Needless to say I needed to get the bike back to her home.

Together we tried to hatch a plan to meet up in Bogota at a convenient time for us both but as difficult schedules go I was not able to get away from the busy schedule here at home so easy, had I only known My trip down was going to be a quick affair, fly from Tulsa, OK to Houston in the evening and take a red-eye flight into Bogota arriving around 6am and then connect to another flight to Cucuta, Colombia on the border where I would cross.

Some may ask why don't you fly direct to Caracas? The reason being (besides a huge surge in ticket prices into/out of Venezuela), even though I have a totally legitimate reason why I left the bike in country after breaking my leg, it has been in the country years past its temporary import papers + my original extension I had to get and with the known slow bureaucracy and troubles the country is currently facing I believed it would be best to show that I crossed into VZ on an overland border crossing stamp in my passport and didn't get a stamp saying I'd entered at Caracas by air and *presumably* shippped in my motorbike at the same time only to exit to Colombia in a few days time.

So the idea being that the Colombia/Venezuela border being a free crossing for roughly 20km either side you could enter into Colombia and *presumably* stay with you bike without importation papers and say if I happened to be stopped that I'd just shacked up with some girl or other excuse to lower the suspicion of an overstayed bike papers. The big fake I had to make with my expired papers was to photoshop in the new date to match my crossing date so when outside that 20km free zone I'd have something to show if asked and would be BSing my way hopefully out of the rest. It has been my experience that I've never had to show bike papers, only passport information so at least I had that going for me but the likelyhood to have the bike taken was real

Since I was unable to meet up with Silviu in Bogota I arranged to leave later and travel on March 4th having gotten a good deal on a business class ticket for one of my last hurrahs down South which I thought was necessary1drink

And Then, And Then I get a most unexpected email from my Canadian friend Len, of Earth, Wind, and Tires who I meet down at Cucuta a few years ago of all places. The email mentioned the just released speech Feb. 28 by President Maduro of Venezuela requiring tourist visas for all the "Damn Yankees" coming into Venezuela. I was pissed hearing this just days before I traveled and so it all began...to Colombia once more

My favourite trip report ever continuing??

Congrats on your wedding and getting that metal out of your leg. I have some in my arm that isn't bugging me too much, yet.

Looking forward to hearing about bringing your bike home.
