F800 1st service. Pleasant surprise!

Only $160 at the dealer. My R12 1st service was pushing $400!
I like this bike more and more.....

It really makes me wonder how the dealers are setting their pricing. I would expect only slight differences in pricing based on shop rate but the numbers vary widely. They're all working from the same set of instructions, no?
I have done everything myself to this point so I'm without personal experience.

$160 isn't bad for an oil change I guess... that's all they do for the 600 mile "service".

$70 for oil and filter, + 1 hour labor.
too bad it really only takes them 15 minutes to change the oil.

wait till the 12,000 mile service - you'll be wishing it was like the R's service...

Check valve clearance and re-torque head bolts. I also had them adjust the clutch a bit tighter.

Really, they inspected the valves on the 600 mile service? and changed the oil for $160?
that's a steal considering it's supposed 3.5 hours of labor in the book just to get into the valves on a f800gs, and it's not called to be inspected until the 12,000 mile service. Even the 6,000 mile service is just an oil change and basic inspection.

that's what they told me. Specifically asked me to bring it in cold (trailer). I know they changed the oil, and I can tell they adjusted the clutch. Can't testify about the rest.

Weird, I thought you change the oil with a warm engine...

Either way, where's this dealer at?... if I can get my valves done for $160 with an oil change it would be well worth the trip!

Chicago BMW... don't get me started!

I'm still getting over the royal fucking they did to me!

Read my story for all the bloody details...

Would still love to find a dealer that charged me $160 to get into my valves on the 8GS. Wish it was easy like on my 12R so I could do it myself!

by contrast, there is a Honda dealer in Greensburg who has earned the nickname "Greedy Reedy's" He charges by the gulp of air while you're in there.

Yeah... $160 ... bring it ... (if true ) Valves have to be checked cool/cold so I'm guessing the dealer's strategy was to do the valves first, then button up the bike, warm it up and change the oil.

My shop has a big fan that they point at your bike for an hour or so before they start the valve check if you have ridden in so they can do the check on a cool bike...

Does it involve taking 5 months or so to get a bike title? No returned calls? Poor customer service??? Mine does anyway...
