BMW 650 Dakar: Accessorize me
I'm picking up a 02 Dakar with 5.6K miles for 5k in the next few days. It has the small lockable hard case luggage. I think this is a pretty good deal.
Anyway, I'm getting this so I can do the trans american trail and all kinds of fun stuff, so I need accessories. I know there have been other threads, but many are dated and new stuff comes out all the time. I guess we could call this pimp my dual sport, but I don't think that's possible.
So what all do I reall need? I've mainly been looking on happy trails and touratech. I'd really like protection for the engine/fairing and possibly highway pegs. However, it looks like touratech is my only option here, and they are a little higher in price. I'd like a roll chart machine, I saw the other thread and unless I'm running the dakar, I don't think I need the $500 one from touratech.
So yeah, point me to the good stuff you gentelmen have found.

H-B Crash Bars
Bar Risers (raises the handlebars about an inch)
Sargent or Corbin Seat
Different Footpegs (several types available)
Front fork cartridge emulators (several types available)
IMHO: Get a cartographic GPS instead of a roll chart. Carry maps too tho.
Switch to 15T Countershaft sprocket.
Replace stock headlight bulb with 'Silverstar' or whatever's the brightest you can find.
'Barkbusters' (handguards). Get the ones reinforced with aluminum bars.
Add tools, spares, camping gear and you're good to go.
If you haven't visited F650.COM yet. Head on over.
