and the damned striker was on the front of a matchbook,,

gasoline was 24 cents per gallon, you had to turn a little crank to reset the tumblers on the dial,,

Arctic Circle gut bomb burgers were 11 cents each, *insert Arctic circle story here*

[ Glen Tillery aka the 'tick' (RIP) hit the FAT concrete wrapped light pole with his right front fender in his 52 ford wagon while revving up to do a reverse burnout! We each had a bag of cheap burgers, 4 of us, and settled into front and back seats. We watched the whole thing unfold, and nobody in the car uttered a word of warning to "Tick" as he floored the gas, cranked on the wheel, shifted the 3 speed on the column into reverse and sidestepped the clutch pedal. He was gonna peel out backwards and do a bootleggers turn,,and,, BANG!! almost knocked the fender off the car! We all died laughing!]

Levi's jeans were $4.95, and twice as thick as today's chince.
toilet paper rolls were 4 3/4 inches wide,,
Steak was 59 cents/lb,,and chickens were like 59 cents each!
I remember Converse "Chuck Taylor" All-Stars for $9.95.And I mowed a lot of lawns for a buck apiece in those years.
I got 25 cents a dozen for nightcrawlers that I picked from my naybore's rose garden. That was big money, and fast and easy!
Also remember Tohatsu, Yamaguchi, and probably have forgotten a few. they had Allstate 2 strokes for sale in the basement of Sears.
Remember J.W. Woolworth's? Did yours have a soda fountain?
A few years later, I bought a brand new Ruger 10/22 carbine for $54.95, and we were paid 75 cents each for porcupine noses. That's right, I was a bounty hunter!
Anyhow,, I am old, but I still remember some stuff.
