Yep. I'll get around to posting the (to me, much more interesting) return trip.

I rode up to Camp Verde via Strawberry one night...

Rode into storms in the mountains that matched the noise in my head, helped some folks after they wrecked their truck, made it down to Camp Verde and saw this guy at the gas station:

Riding with the peeps...

This here's Matt "No Balls". It's great having friends here in Arizona. The people who choose to live in here are as great friends as the environment is unforgiving.

My therapist observed, "you go to Arizona for answers, don't you?". I think he's right- or at least it's all the excuse I need to go to Arizona...

matt and I rode up to Payson and over to Camp Verde (yes, again for me...).

Hiked up Sunset Peak

Between Scottsdale proper and Fountain Hills, it's a challenging enough trail for me. I got used to the heat after about a week or so, so it was probably only 112 degrees when I took this photo.

I added some lights while I was in Phoenix. Sixteen bucks from Walmart!

I thought I had more photos of my friends from Arizona, and I can't find 'em.

I want to thank Adam and Vicki for opening their home and their ears to my personal problems.

I thank Omar from Motoghost(go there if you're in Phoenix and need your k-bike, f-bike, and/or Oilheads serviced and repaired) for letting me crash at his place for over a month while I got my head straight and also for letting me hang out at the shop. Omar also listened to my tales of woe without judgement- thank you.

Dan, thank for introducing me to the old guys at the American Legion- what a treasure trove! Old jet mechanics, drag racers, guys who have ridden more hard miles and spun more wrenches than anyone... I miss you guys too. Also, Dan helped me sort out some more problems with my Airhead. Dan Roth- if you see him at the rallies, introduce yourself. He's a younger guy, great character, passionate about our Beemers.

Erich, it was great riding and camping in Flagstaff. Thanks for introducing me to the out-of-the-way places up there. I look forward to riding with you again.

Again, I spent more than my fair share of time at MotoGhost, which was nice because Omar also let me crash at his place for a few weeks.

Dan Roth (blue) also helped me tweak the bike-o-matic quite a bit.

That's Stephen catching some gas- he's quite a character, too. He's gonna be a great mechanic. Stephen's dad Eric is also a great man and fantastic father. I hope to see them again; I have much to learn from both those guys. BTW- Stephen rebuilt my carbs two years ago, and the bike never ran better.

Headed East from Payson along the Morgellon Rim.

Some trips are just for fun, this trip was a toss-up between sorting out headspace and running away. Somewhere I decided I had to face whatever it was I was running from.

It's such a gift to have people in your life who accept you and make space for you when you think you're in need. I got real lucky- I had a place to crash, was fed well, and given all the chances I could ask for to give voice to what was bothering me.

I made more friends in Phoenix, and got to enjoy old friends while I was there. Again, what a gift.

It's time to point the bike East, face my unknowns head-on...

I'm amazed how different northeast Arizona is from the rest of the state.

mmm... alpine-y goodness...

Oh, and that's EASTERN Arizona. My bad. Eastbound on AZ 260.
