This one must be from the south west corner?

I thought I had a picture of the north west corner but I guess I don't have one on my system. When the snow clears out I'll have to run up there and get some.

If you have an interest in the southern Great Plains, check this book out if you have not as of yet.
Another good book on Quanah Parker is "The Last Comanche Chief - The Life and Times of Quanah Parker" by Bill Neeley.

According to info from the above book, Quanah was born about ten miles NE of where I live. - From a quote attributed to Quanah, he stated, "From the best information I have, I was born about 1850 on Elk Creek just below the Wichita Mountains."

Elk Creek flows into the North Fork of the Red River five miles ESE of Soldiers' Spring Mountain. - Soldiers' Spring Mountain on the east and Flat Top Mountain on the west form Devil's Canyon.

A few of years back I worked on Fort Sill with Quanah's 4X great-grandson. We renovated one of the older buildings on the post that overlooked the Post Cemetery where Quanah Parker is buried on the Chief's Knoll.

It is beautiful and different, but after a few hundred miles of it you'd be begging for twisties and elevation change! I know I was..

Bought the book several years ago, recommended it several people. Good read for anyone, especially if you live in the southern plains. Llano Estacado area has a lot of history. Most travelers won't even get off the highway coming thru the area (Main roads are flat and boring- 2 lane FM and back roads have some interesting areas.)
