Sometimes I hear folks complain about how boring the plains are but I've always disagreed. I usually find something hidden, things that these pictures illustrate. Great thread.

The Plains of Mongolia....
Quote:
The Great Plains of North American were once part of the largest Grassland Complex on the Planet...Over the years that has changed...What you are seeing photographed here are remnants of what once was... The Plains of Mongolia are very similar to the Great Plains of North America..Not only in the landscape, but also in the plant and animal species that call each place home.. Big Difference is, the Plains of Mongolia are still 95% intact, and have not suffered the effect of large human population...."Yet" Buffalo Bill screwed with this post 08-27-2009 at 06:33 AM |

this is an excellent thread!! 3 thing about the great plains thats has always amazed me. # 1 is how open it is you can ride for miles and miles and see nothing but open plains. #2 is how amazing it must have been for the first pioneers to see that wide open land and the opportunity and risk that went along with that.#3 is how amazing and intense the storms are.
