I can highly recommend the Pony Express Trail. I rode the trail last summer in preparation for the 150th. I rode a few days with a film crew making a documentary, and then split off to ride my own ride, photograph and write. The ALT Project is about to release their film. I don't know if Jim Vota will make an announcement here on ADV Rider or not. Just Google ALT Project to learn more. I hope to be doing a film review.

For me, riding the Pony Express Trail (a combination of actual trail and auto route) was an incredible ride. My adventure began on June 20, 2009. I posted every day, including my trip out and return via Utah and Arizona to see family, I rode 6,209 miles in 19 days.

My posts after returning attempted to give a thorough review of gear and motorcycle--what worked, and what didn't.

I would do it again in a heart beat!

Just found this thread.
I drive this road every day to work in Lame Deer. It is easy to lose perspective when just going to work. Somehow my photos don't capture the vastness very well. It helps a lot to see it through another's eyes. Thanks.

Thanks, Bill. I have more photos, of course. But what I want is to get more photos of that yellow V-Strom going across the Great Plains AGAIN! Stay tuned for my Coast to Coast this summer!

Here's the one pic I have of the BH monument when I wasn't going to work and there wasn't snow.
