New KLX on the Pawnee

Picked up an 09 klx250s the other day and headed out to the Pawnee grassland (Weld County, CO). I rode my tw200 out here a lot so it was a good comparison ride. Didn't hit all the 2 track I wanted, there were a lot of shooters out.....That's ok, it's their weekend too :-)

First I had to get it home from Steamboat Thursday.....

Then out to 'The Great Plains"

Doesn't get much plainer than this........

Saw a lot of antelope- probably as many as I've seen on one ride. None of them were interested in staying in 'point n shoot' range though......

Once again I've missed the showy cactus, but still a few nice flowers......

Rode by this old place......

Lots of room to scrub the 'new' off the d606's......

Very hot, but I sure like the wide open space and it's fun to get out on a shiny new little bike!

Photoshopping historical photos.....

i thought i'd mention this here since many are also intersted in the history of the plains-

a few months ago i was contacted by the colorado state historical society. they had seen some of my grandparents old keota colrado snapshots on a ghost town website and wanted to know if they could use them in conjunction with a display at the new, expanded museum. maybe you've seen them- i included some in a ride report last winter. i sent digital copies off to them, and was glad to do it.

i recieved a flyer advertising a preview of the exhibit the other day, and lo and behold, one of my photos was at the top of the page. well, it's been modified quite a bit. i can understand spot removal, but if you compare the original with the pic from the flyer you'll see the composition has been changed and text has been added to the sign. i've seen another photo of a keota sign, taken from another part of town, and i don't believe that additional text ("of the" and "elevation 4xxx") ever existed on those signs.......

i suppose it's no big deal in the grand scheme of things, but it seems to me this is no place for artistic license, and frankly i'm a little disappointed....

what do you guys think?
