I'm just going to throw this out as an idea to everybody as
a starting point.

For the earlybirds, let's plan on camping out Friday night at Ponderosa
campground on Nacamiento/Fergeson Rd. Easy to find, easy to get to.

There are something like 20 spots all first come/first serve and campfires
are allowed. If 666 is driving down his truck will be safe in the campground
while we're riding.

Saturday morning we can meet up with the guys who don't camp Friday
night at HWY1/Nacamiento Rd., or be lazy and meet them at the junction
of Nacamiento/SCRR on top of the ridge. Heck, just all meet at Ponderosa
campground and the Saturday guys can drop off their camping gear before
we take off for the day's ride.

Saturday night we can opt for something else like the spot off of Los Burros
Rd. We'll definately ride out and check it out on /Saturday as a group . It's
a great spot but I'm guessing some folks might think twice after giving the
trail in and out a go.

Just my 2 cents. I'm just hoping we'll have a window of good weather
that weekend and no rain right now.

sounding good - just vote for a quick check of kirk's creek; never know when a spot might be open.

can we get a head count for the nights? i'd be in for fri/sat nights, on motorcycle w/minimal gear so I'd also be up for funding our mule (666) for supplies.

I'm in for Friday and Saturday nights and will be
going light on my bike as well. I'll be glad
to help with setting 666 up with what he needs.

Looking like its a 60% chance I can go. If I can go I'll be in for Friday & Sat if possible and will be happy to paypal for supplies. Less I need to carry the better.

I am going for friday, saturday and sunday. Friday late arrival to campsite, 9pm -10pm.
I assume that in case of heavy rain whole thing is canceled.
Where can i get big load of firewood?

I suppose to bring in my truck:
1) Beer
2) Firewood
3) I guess tons of water
4) Bunch of tools, air pump, tubes, laptop with maps
5) Snacks, food, grill(i don't have it)?
6) More Beer?
7) ???

If I come... add #7 Whiskey. Kind of fits anyway Old #7 (except I prefer makers mark over Jack D.)

Don't forget bug repellent. I rode through there yesterday and the flys were obnoxious!

forecast in the storm blowing through tomorrow night is 3-6" of rain in the Santa Cruz mountains. this might end the 'fire season'...

That could spell the end to "bug season" as well.

Not likely, it takes a couple of good freezes to take care of the flys. On a good note though, the flys go away in the evening once the temp is into the low 50's.

it's supposed to be an El Nino year, so we should all get some good rain.

Well,

After today I doubt we'll have to worry any longer re: fire restrictions.

Just hope there's enough of HWY1 left so we can even get there!
