Thumb What's a good Oz ride for November? North or South?

Hey AdvRiders! Thinking of taking a few weeks off from late October to mid November and hitting the road. Is far Nth QLD going to be too hot at that time of year or would SA be a better idea? Any ideas welcome!

IMHO if you stick to the coastal strip, with pubs, cold beer, green shade, beaches, etc. ,you'll be Ok but if you are thinking of Mitchell Hwy stuff heading up to Karumba, then no. It's just too hot and once the temp gets over 35 you'll cook, riding. It was 37.4 at Evans Head yesterday and winter has only just finished. Temps for this coming summer could be scary.
I'd be looking at the average mean temperatures for the places you're thinking of going to and this will give you a clue.
I've just come back from doing the Stryzlecki and down into S A via Wilpena, Martins Well , Erudina, and down to Yunta. Bit cool at night but I wouldn't have wanted it to be too much hotter during the day. I would not want to be out that way when it starts to heat up.
I'm on the tent list so you can park your bike, pitch your tent, get a shower here. This is a great little beach town and might suit you itinerary.

Awesome stuff, W, cheers. Will keep it in mind. Coastal strip is all well and good but still would prefer more of a challenge to make the rare holiday worthwhile. Maybe Southward is a better option, at least until next year. Thanks again! 02

Tassie @!!!!!!!, as Ive said elsewhere, very few Oz guys come to this section, you'd get a lot more ideas if you asked in the main Oz forum

start of Oct we're heading up to the Cape, inland route, then west to the Kimberley then taking the Tanami to the Alice, Oodnadatta to birdsville back to Sydney. Just finished a circumnav of Oz last week, and temps were all over the place, was only suppose to be 34 in Darwin when we were there and was 38, and we survived, so you just have to be prepaired.

If I had my choice i would say do Flinders Ranges, you won't be dissapointed, it was a highlight of our trip

X2 for Tassie, too bloody hot up north and the national parks will close if the fire risk gets too high.
