A short excursion to Black Lake
Our excursion up DeadPoint Road last week ended at a closed road 2 miles from the lake. Sunday we mounted a second expedition, with Amy driving up in the car and Clem riding with me, Andy and Nic following on his KLR rig. We arrived at the lake around 4pm
There was a hard, cold wind blowing so most of us decided against swimming. Clementine enjoyed the water in spite of the breeze...
I picked up a nail and had to pull the rear tire off.
My patch kit was too old, but Amy had one in her car so we put a patch on and used 6 CO2 cartridges, only to discover it wouldn't hold air. Don't know if the patch failed or if I had another hole, but we slapped it back together and I made it about 4 miles before it got too flat to ride further without damage. I stopped here to wait while Andy went back to get a wheel off another bike.
I pulled the wheel off again, set up a camp chair, wrapped up in some blankets and sat down with a beer and a book, waiting for Amy to get back with the wheel.
We got back home about 10pm
