Empire State Wild Card Tag-O-Rama

The point of the Wild Card tag is to reproduce a similar photo of an object or place that can be found in many different locations around NYS. Much like a scavenger hunt, examples include specific street signs, a railway crossing with train, yourself at a toll booth with reciept, etc.... Get creative

Rules are easy...

Find a SIMILAR tag and reproduce the photo (as best as possible). Take the tag to a new location, get the photo and post it here.
Upon posting your new tag, the tagger is responsible for specifying what it is in the photo that must be reproduced. Be specific, but not so specific that no one else will be able to play because we couldn't find another pink school bus.
- Try to place the tags in interesting locations, objects or places that could probably be found in at least the majority of NYS Counties.
Tag must be: a) Common amongst NYS & b) not placed on a trail or seasonal road. Dirt is ok, but remember some of us are on street bikes.
- Maintained gravel is OK, but make sure to let folks know that gravel is required to get to your tag. We don't want to exclude those who don't like to get dirty.
The first person to post a found tag gets to place the next tag. If you get a tag, but somebody else posts their picture first, you lose.
One tag at a time within thread. File photos are NOT permitted. You gotta ride to play this game.
No whining There are plenty of folks here that will help you understand the rules
The holder of the tag determines if the tag has been duplicated and acknowledges it by posting on the thread. (Surrendering the Tag)
No Pre-Arranged Tag Handoffs / Linear Tag sequence
The motorcycle in the picture must get to the tag location under its own power (The vfr870 rule).
Last but not least, should the tag be soo ridiculous that no one is able to reproduce it, it can be voted down if a majority of the active participants feel necessary.

Remember, the point of this is not to win the game, or get a better picture than the guy who just bruced you, the point is the ride. On that note, if someone tags a post office. Rather than get out and ride a block to my local post office, I might ride an hour or so, out to the historic post office a few towns over.... Make it interesting.

Nice

Only thing I think could be worded differently is the "no dirt roads" I ride my street bike on maintained dirt roads when I'm upstate and most arent too bad. Maybe make it say "no trails or seasonal roads".

Not a problem. Been there!!

but then again..... if you post your tag on a dirt road, maybe mine won't be? Unless its dirt road specific, get my point?

I love this. This is a fantastic Idea. Maybe, because this will be a little more fast paced and can be local to everyone, no posting from the road. That gives the guy without a laptop a chance to not get super bruced.

Exactly. The point is, even if you do get bruced, who cares!? You can get the next one just as easy.

I still plan on playing in the regular empire state tag, but in the meantime, this gives you something fun to look for every night of the week.

You should allow road posting. Then again how would you know if it was posted from a laptop.

I'm ok with road posting. Point is whether you road post or not, every tag should be within your grasp, so you don't have to wait a month.

thats the whole point, we don't even have to use pictures! That way no one is ever wrong!

I am against posting from the road. Brucing is part of the game as we all know but why amplify the possibility of it happening. I have quit playing the empire tag game because of brucing and posting from the road. Has happened to me 3 times now. It gets old. I know, it is all about the ride..I agree, thats why I just ride now and don't play the tag game.

Posting from the road turns what could be a fun game into an unfair advantage and increased competitiveness. Take advantages out and competitiveness and then you have a game that anyone can play.

I vote for every tag has to be a round trip (aka no posting from the road).
