Dont hate me I used the search function, GPS Trackers
OK my first post,
I am looking for a GPS tracker that my family could follow me when I am out and about. I read the first 20 pages of GPS recommendation, no dice, I dont want a GPS, but some kind of dongle that can be tracked. I dont get lost often and when I do I dont want a map, I want to talk to people. Doing a search for recivers gets lots of talk about trailers. Do they make tracking devices as such?

It sounds like you might be looking for a GPS based vehicle tracking service. There are a lot of them available, but they aren't free and the least expensive ones don't support communication with the vehicle.
If you do a Google search for vehicle tracking GPS you should turn up vendors who sell the units and the services. There used to be some radio communication technology that tied a GPS signal into the trasmit function of two-way radios so that the receiving radio also received the GPS location of the transmitter. I think it was called "APRS Tracking." I found this link in my old favorites folder (http://k6ib.com/aprs/). It might help you. Howard Snell |
