The XTZ660 weighed 171 kg againsnst the XT660Z 183kg so yes the new one is heavier,would think the new 660 with injection would perform at least as well ,time will tell.
The G650GS has only 17 litre tank&170 mm suspension ,would cost more to set up as buying a Tenere &still ordinary suspension.
Realistically wouldn't the Yamaha & BMW rate as similar Quality bikes???

A 690R with a big tank seems like a bargain in comparison, and 30kg lighter!!

Yes get the 690 (at least 15K$)& fit the big tank &fairing ,no worries,,,more effing$$$$ plus hot&cold running mechanic to go with it

(I am sure the're a great bike if you need that performance )

i got a dr650 goes real good,dunno about the klr but rode a bmw 650 dakar the other day(god forgive me)was a little suprised it went well just needs the front suspension fixed ,damn near rattled my teeth out over the corrugations,the tenere looks the goods will wait and see how it performs i guess

I can get a new TE610 for under 13K on the road. There should be a big tank for it at the end of the year. I have seen KTM690e for 16K on the road. Your going to be looking at about $15500 for the yam when its on the road. Thats a lot of coin. But then at 183kg that's a lot of bike.

How much does the 610 weigh? i hear there on the heavy side as well. One bike that you don't hear a lot about is the Aprilla 550, i did hear from a safari rider they go like the clappers in stock trim, way above the other brands, not to sure about the handling though.

140.5kg dry

As for the Aprilia I love that bike. But the lack of a big tank the fact that long term reliability is (for me) an unknown has ment I am not looking at it. But god yes give me a RXV550 rally/ADV bike

True enough about the 5k but the underslung exhaust would have to go .I guess a couple of grand would sort it .Any comment from XT owners re the EFI being snatchy off idle??

Am I wrong comparing the Tenere with the likes of Transalp,F650/800GS,G650 GS,Pegaso,KLR,DL650
Not really competing with 690,610,550 type bikes .as good as they may be.Not sure I would want to ride them 1000km days
Correct me if I am on the wrong track.
And no I don't like black&blue either
