Offroad/trail riding near Raleigh, NC?

I have a friend that is interested in getting a motorcycle, but hes concerned there is no where to ride offroad/dual sport around where we live. Since I mostly ride back roads, and not much dirt/gravel, I am not any help. Are there many legal offroad trails with an hour of Raleigh?

Sure. The Raleigh/Fayetteville thread has rides almost every weekend. Some of them are at the 1 hour mark for that area. If he wanted to push a little further there is Brushy mountain, Uwharrie NF and a few others too. They are fun places to ride and there are ride reports about them in there too. I live near Fayetteville so I do not have any information about what is right around Raleigh. Post up in the Raleigh/Fayetteville thread for more local information.
