Thanks amigo. Working on some updates but the internet here in Bolivia is not cooperating, or I'm just too cheap to stay in a place that has decent internet.

New video

I have been trying to upload this video for a week, and finally got it successfully into smugmug!

Anyway, a little more of Peru riding from Huaraz to Huánuco. Some of the time riding with the dutch dangleberries. Spectacular riding and scenery along the Andes of Peru.

Kick Ass

Thanks for taking the time put put the video together. Speaking from personal experience...I know it can take some time. I went on a trip this summer and the Mtns of Guatemala between Coban and Flores were my favorite part. This video reminded me so much of it. The rush of passing a truck on a narrow strip of asphalt with the possiblilty of a car blazing around the next corner...Pure Adrenaline! Gracias...Y que le vaya bien!

yo Vince!!

Its funny though I hear some people on here say that riding in Bolivia is "extremely difficult, the roads are the worst I have ever seen anywhere" or the "hardest riding I have ever done in my life." They say things like "horrible deep sand" when I think riding sand on the pig is one of the more fun things to do. Then I look at a picture of the horrible deep sand and it looks like a little dusting on an otherwise well graded dirt road.

So its hard to know what to expect on some of these routes since everyone has a different perspective.

Aaaa wait a minute! This is from the guy who told me the route from San Filipe to Coco's is just a dusting of sand....I was up to my friggin axles on that road!! Your just a better rider then most of us!!

Hey a few questions!:
1) Hows the bike holding up?
2) have you been able to find all the parts you need?
3) have you had to change any wear parts....fuel pump, h2o pump....
4) You running all your rear tires tubeless? thought I saw a Mefo on your bike a while back and they are not tubless...right?
5) how often are you needing your extra fuel tank?

Keep living the life and keeping us entertained!!

Hey Sean.

No, not a better rider, its just that almost all of the riding in my life has been dirt road, off road, desert two track, so I might have a little bit different perspective than folks that dont often venture into the dirt.

The bike is doing awesome. I have beat the hell out of this bike so badly that at this point that it doesnt owe me a thing, yet keeps on performing admirably.

KTM Parts are no problem all throughout the Americas. If if you are not in a city with a KTM dealer, a quick call to the nearest dealer will generally have the part on a bus headed your way the next day. However if you want something that is not a normal wear item, you might have to wait a couple of weeks, just like in the states.

I carry a WP rebuild kit (but have not had to use it yet, about 20,000 miles) I carry two sets of fuel pump filters, but have not had to use them yet either.

Yes, I am running the rear tubeless. Best mod you can do IMO as the only time I flat the rear anyway is due to a nail, screw etc, and the plug and go is very nice as I have picked up quite a few nails over the last year.

I just put any rear tire on it, tubeless or not, seems to work just fine. that tire you saw was probably the Metzler Karoo T, total POS tire. I chunked half the knobs off is 300 miles and tire was totally shot for dirt use at 500 miles.

A couple of times the extra fuel has been nice, but at no time have I ever needed it, yet. That could change here in Bolivia and further south. You can do it without the extra tank, but you will have to get creative about finding fuel, be very careful planning your route, and dont be too quick to pass a petrol station.

Having met Crashmaster I can attest to his riding skill, but even the "Iron Pigs" made it to Coco's. Slowly...

The sand wasn't to bad, and Crashmaster is on the right bike for the job in my mind.

It's a graded road with just a little sand on top.
Trust me, that's not a "sandy" road in MX

To my mind there is also a big difference between a 20ft long difficult section, vs 20 miles of crap. listening to other riders, it's often really hard to discern what the situation is.

Good the hear the big Katoom is chugging on without issues!
Totally agree about perspective regards riding conditions. So many riders down there never rode bikes before the trip or never had Off road back ground.

Hey Sean,
I think somebody took you to Coco's via the Mitomi wash and told you it was "The Road". The main road gets graded once or twice a year and NOW, its paved nearly half way to Coco's. That road can be rough ... depending on the last time the grader came through ... but mostly no sand. In a year it will be paved all the way to the main highway.

South of Puertocitos, on the way to Rancho Grande and Coco's.

Baja Sand ... the real deal but none like this on the main road. Ice Cream trucks and RV's take that road.

Hola Crash,
You may have answered this already but how did you convert your rear to tubeless. I called the Nuetech Tubliss people and they told me they had not designed a system to fit the wider rim on the 950.
I'm really enjoying your report. Ride safe brother.

I know that Woody does it.
I'd be curious if there are other options as well. I'm not too keen on tubliss.

Awesome report crashmaster. Thank you!!
