Awesome thread just found it to day and read the whole thing. Now all I need is a DRZ and to get out of Southeast Texas. Looking forward to the new pictures.

Happy 4am Folks! Today was going to be a mammoth of a day.

Here was our itinerary--

Get dropped off by the ADV Camry in Paradise
From Paradise head north over the pass to McDermitt
Fuel and Food in McDermitt
Fuel and eats at Denio Junction via short bypass and TAT
TAT to Fort Bidwell
TAT Lakeview for the night

Now I knew that this was going to be a very very long day. Due to the fact that I got up at 3:30am, Stand to was 4AM, I am pretty sure I had no comprehension of how long this first day would be.

If I did know I was going to be riding for a bazillion hours...I would have stayed in bed. Hiya dad, send me a post card.

Sleep deprivation can be a wonderful thing my friend. Wonderful...

Our schedule the next day didn't sound so bad..

Pick up missed TAT to Denio Jct
Denio Jct to McDermitt via the TAT
End in Battle Mountain via the TAT and continue South the next day

The only problem that I had with my dad little loop was that we were going the wrong way. Screw Nevada!! Let's go to Oregon!!!!

But dad said no ...I did have all day to work on it though

It was 11AM and we were already this far from home?? Jinkies

Time to fuel uppp!!

Ouch dad! Look, Nevada is ripping us off. I bet that gas in Oregon would be so much cheaper

I hope they were talking about the gas prices and not quality!!

Nevada looks just like Utah,lol

Unmaintained roads? No problem

Look dad we did a giant loop and ended up back in Utah!!!

Nawt...

I freakin' hate Nevada

But then I saw this

And I knew we couldn't be in Utah

Gee Mav your pictures used to be so good. What happened??

In short...Maverickchick happened. I am the camera's biggest nightmare. To be fair I had this camera for about a year. But none the less, it freaks out sometimes. I am not sure what incident made it so...but it happened.

And as for the camera I bought a day before the TAT? Well it takes really good pictures...but I kinda sorta busted the LCD out on the first day.

Long story short about 70 of our pictures were a cool purple color, as seen above. And apparently I am not so good with framing without a screen...

So you will have to bear with me.

Think back to every cheesy vampire film you have ever seen. With the exception of Twilight. I know you guys eat that crap up. But seriously, I am talking people eating blood thirsty crazy vampires.

Stop thinking about how 'dreamy' Robert Pattinson is and pay attention!

Well all of those movies have these creepy scenes of old deserted towns.

Welcome to Paradise! The town you probably shouldn't venture into after dark! I mean...dusk

Can you imagine our confusion when the GPS pointed us here for Petrol?

Phew, we made it out of Paradise.

Our goal was to make it to Lakeview before dark. But by the looks of things, this long day seemed to be never ending.

Dirt dirt dirt, and then we hit Mcdermit.

We then slabbed it to Denio, only 110 miles. The dirt route was only 60 miles. But by giving up some tat and slabbing it we saved about an hour and a half. Which is pretty much a necessity, after such a long day. And we havent even had lunch yet

My dad had been talking about Denio for awhile now. And while he never said it was a big town..for some reason I thought it was. Heck I even thought that it was going to be a town. But wheat we came across was just a gas station with a hotel off to the side.

To be fair...inside the gas station was a bar and a sit down food joint. Yesss. There were a bunch of locals sitting out front, drinkin' and swappin stories..That's when it started raining.

Psh, Not. It was just a mister. Oh man, that mist felt so freakin' good. It probably just smeared all the dirt on my face and made it look like mud. At this point I was really glad that I busted the mirror off of my bike. If I know what I looked like walling into half the places I went..

We get inside and find it easy to locate a booth. Everyone is at the bar, and our waiter is also serving there. What a tough job! Somehow he manages to get to us before we fall asleep. A nice tall glass of Dr. Pepper with a straw sounds wonderful.

Well imagine our surprise...

What the heck?

At this point I was kind of afraid of what our food would look like. Microwaved meals, frozen. I broke the pattern of grilled cheese and opted for a burger, my dad said everyone liked them.

I probably would have liked mine, if I wasn't a weirdo. It was pink on the inside, which has always really freaked me out. Blah Blah Blah flavor flavor. I don't eat things still bleeding. It was also terribly hot which did nothing for my hunger.

I managed half and we were good to go. For some reason my dad wanted to hit a corner of California before we hit Lakeview for the night. I think he likes riding in the extreme. Well, he is the one with the gps , so I don't really have any say in this matter.

You weren't in Denio there. That is Denio Junction. The actual town of Denio is 3 miles to the north from there. It's way bigger than that.
