2007 990 adv front brake: please help I am stuck
I feel really stupid. The repair manual for 2003-2006 says to remove the two retainers to be able to pull out the rod that holds the pads. But there is only one retainer on mine and I cannot figure out how to pull the rod out. I can turn it, but I can't move it longitudinally. What is the trick? Oh boy, do I feel dumb.
Thanks in advance,

There is typically one clip on the outside of the caliper and one on the inside of the caliper. i would not be totally surprised if one of yours is gone.
As far as pin removal, I usually have to tap on mine with a rubber mallet and a punch to get it to come out.

Yes, there is a spring-loaded thingy that keeps the pins in place even if there are no safety clips. You need a hammer and punch to tap them out.
You will see what I mean when you get it out.
