A buddy and I are going to roll White Rim on Wednesday of next week if any one wants to join us. I ll be on a DR 350 and he is on a tricked out XR 650 R. Not sure what else we are going to ride yet.

Yeah, plan B..., or was it C or D (or the uber-secret "X")? Yes, it was one of those alphanumeric ones for sure.
Not rough at all. Yes, easier but much less interesting and scenic than WRT.

Um....plan 7234972

Well, crap. I have never blown a seal, and now both at the same time?? Glad I was only 40 miles from the house and not already on White Rim. I think Uli jinxed me If my @#)%$*@ pictures ever upload to smugmug, I will post the *beautiful* ride we took today up to Meeker, I think it's called Hay Flat? dirt road runs parallel to 13 from Rifle to Meeker? Mud's the name, and I have nearly bald tires. Oh, and THEN the mud caked up in my front fender and cracked it! And Uli was wearing sneakers, and forgot all his tools! Thanks goodness we didn't need any, but with two blown seals, looks like the 525 is on deck for Easter in Moab

jeese, these don;t do it justice, and I can't get the good photos off my phone!

Got this one, this is the EASY part...

215 mile loop in the NW corner

Took the day off from the honey do list to do a little ride. Heck I am on Spring Break...
Started in Craig.

Tried to avoid as much slab as I could. Here is the trusty ride. No mud here Uli!

2 Bar Spring, an old cowboy line shack for the 2 bar ranch. Over night stay to many of the west famous outlaws. Butch Cassidy, Matt Rash and Tom Horn to say a few.
Sand Wash Basin is a HUGE OHV area. I rode all day and saw more wild horses than people.

I like the colors of the guy in the background, same as my DR.

Vermillion basin, Cold Springs Mt and Irish Canyon(far left) are in the back ground.

Everything in the background to Lookout mt in the back ground is Sand Wash Basin OHV. Most of it has no travel restrictions yet. Lots of single track, ATV track and BLM 2 track. Great day it was.
Now if I can figure out to post a video, I will put that up. 215 miles, only damage was I ended up knocking my handguard loose, Little JB weld at lunch and all is well. Now that it is snowing in Craig, back to that honey do list.

Ach du Lieber!!! Norm, you really should start a guiding business up there. Nice!

Sorry you didn't find the therapeutic mud like some of us out there did. Once ya start walking and pushing, that's good threrapy for someting or other.

Oh Adventure Girl, Tony says that that mud probably caused your fork seal failures. I better rinse mine off fast.

You see, it was all planned that way. Way to think positively.

Well it looks like its game on for me and I'll be on my 950 and heading on a slow route north from near Santa fe by tomorrow and into the Moab area for Friday. I'd really like to hook up with you bunch for some riding and beverage sampling. Where are you staying in Moab? Is there any accommodation available there?

We got started on it the other day. Got the ignition swicth, new 12v system, new starter and alternator in. He is putting on new hoses as I type. Carb is out and ready for the rebuild. Wife is redoing the seats. Hope to be ready for paint by June

Hey, Adventure Girl! Did you used to race Enduros?
I remember a feisty gal who rode the Chadron race back in 2000 with her husband on matching KTM's. Seems to me they were from Rifle, too. As I recall, she got stuck in the mud for a while before somebody stopped to offer help.
Well, anyway, I admire your taste in adventure bikes.
