So the out the door price with tax, title, and License is $14,990 ($12,670 with out TTL). They added a bunch of options on it. It has ABS, computer, and heated grips.

1. Comes with Street and Dirt tires
2. Skid Plate
3. Had Guards
4. Crash Bars
5. BMW top case (it is the one that expands for larger items if you need it)
6. Center Stand
7. Touring windscreen

What do you guys think? Is it a good deal? Or should I wait for 2010 models.
The 2008, 2009, and 2010 are identical except for the fact that the 2010's have a clear/see-thru front brake reservoir instead of a hazed white plastic on the 08-09's. No performance improvements due to this. Just color.

Most 08, and all 09 and 10 models arrive in the States with the "Standard Package":

* Heated Grips

* ABS

* On Board Computer

* White Turn Signals

These options have always been just that, extra "options":

* Anti-Theft Alarm $395

* Center Stand $175

* Low Seat (33.5 inches): n/c

Aside from that, all 08, 09, and 10 models come with a plastic skid plate and Michelin Anakee or Bridgestone BattleWing tires or the like only. No off-road tires. All of things you list numbered in this post are extras that cost more dough on top of the "Standard Package" price.

Chain is not different, just clean! It's also the way the light is hitting the freshly waxed new chain in this photo as well. And yes, they wax 'em when installing. Those rotor bolts look the same size as my 09's too. I was at the dealership for an hour while waiting for front axle recall work to be done. I spent it inspecting a white 2010 on the floor. Could not find a difference. looked high and low. Even went back and forth between the 2010 and my 09 a few times. The only visual thing I could see different was the white paint job, the front brake reservoir, and the Michelin Anakee's. Not anything worth getting worked up about.

New chain

Griz,
Sorry but the chain is the new improved version from CZ.
The sideplates are a different color and the sideplates are supposed to be bigger (2.2mm instead of 2.0mm).

Once AGAIN, 09 models do come with the clear front brake reservoir.
Bought mine in March and it comes with the same reservoir as the new 2010 version.

Cheers

Where are you? We are looking at about 20K Aussie with ABS, but we get centre stand, heated grips and on-board computer as standard

Our bikes are 74 VINs apart. She got a white, and I got a Gray.

We're both very happy.

No one's mentioned the rear axle nut, my son's early '09 has a different rear
axle nut than my wife's and mine.

I was gonna say, my chain is black. I'll get my calipers out and measure the side plates to be sure.

Or not.

Hey Griz,

Beautiful bike.

The rear sprocket bolts that you can see clearly in this photo are completly different to the ones on the 09, a side by side at the dealership and its really obvious.

Well, then it looks like 08's and 09's have shit chains that are going to for sure break and rear sprockets that are for sure going to fall off then, right?

But like I said, I was at the dealership and A/B'd my 09 yellow to a 2010 white. Believe it or not, the chains were the same (black w/ same letters and numbers engraved on the links, I even asked the BMW tech, he confirmed) and the sprocket bolts and nuts were also the same size. Don't know what to tell ya. That's just the way it was on the 2010 I inspected.

Looks like they shipped a few 2010's without these mythical/magical/mysterious internet upgrades. And again, the bike pictured does NOT have a silver chain. It's just how a waxed black chain looks! My back chain looks the same when I wax it or apply the Dupont Teflon Multi-Use Dry Wax Lube.

In what way are they "completely different"?

Perhaps a very early build date. I can assure you that the '10s on my dealer floor have a nickel colored chain.
