Sorry to the few nice BMW riders out there, but I completely agree. Last weekend I was out and about. I ran into a bunch of GSers in Kwangju, Korea, and they didn't say a thing to me, and barely looked at my AT.
Same trip I ran into a group of mixed riders (bunch of crotch rockets, a TransAlp and a KLE) and they crowded around the AT, asking questions. They were also eager to talk about their bikes. It was a blast. I have an open invite to go riding with them.
The funny thing was that the "mixed riders" didn't speak English, but that didn't stop them from being friendly. I couldn't tell you if the BMW crowd spoke English or not.
In the GSers defence, I know one fellow originally from Texas who has a 1200gs, and he's as friendly and social as they come, but he admits he's had other bikes, and would have a AT if he could get his leg over the beast.

As for weight... the older (pre-2006 weight loss) BMW 650s have pretty much the same weight as my RD03 (220kg). When i compare it to a KLR 650, or a 650 V-strom, which are 30kg lighter, I think the AT's heavy. I just find it heavy compaired to my old CB650(same weight, lower center of gravity.)

Anyway, like a lot of us here... it would take alot to get me to trade mt AT away.

Who are you calling a . . . oh, never mind!

I've got an Africa Twin as my first bike, and I couldn't ask for any more (apart from a few minor tweaks and farkles of course!). It makes me smile even when I'm not riding it.

It's not fast, but it's plenty fast enough for me. There's nothing else I'd want to change it for at the moment.

Sadly, no. I'm on babysitting duty which should earn enough Brownie points for another day on the dirt! Have a great weekend everyone!!

I can't make the meeting either. Too short of a notice.

Excellent driving conditions on the ice, usually there is to much snow to take the AT out on it (at least with my driving skills ).

Nice shots

DD, welcome and don't be a stranger. Those pics are worth submitting to the front page thread somewhere else on this site.
Jim.
