For the love of all that is holy... DO NOT SELL IT! I know temptation my friend... she's a beautiful-ugly thing indeed. You've got that AT so dialed in to your riding style that'd it take twice the TT39 to come close. Yeah, my vote's for keeping that sweet ride of yours.

Dirk mate, Hi !!!, yes my old girl is going OK, Im just sorting out the carbies at the moment, worn emulsion tubes etc. I know what you mean about selling the AT, I love mine dearly but having ridden the KTM950 it's very clear how "old tech" the AT is these days. I do dram of a modern AT built by Honda but I dont think thats going to happen. Ive got a KTM front end in the garage ready to go on my AT in the future but maybe I could get a Vstrom 650 and turn it into a real dirt bike, the engine is light years ahead of the AT's. I think whatever I do I will keep my AT forever, to many good memories on the old girl. maybe a centrepiece in the loungeroom or a feature in an indoor garden ?? I think you should get the TT and keep the AT !!!. Greg |

"Right... you're lost my friend, but come... come into this tent here... I've something to show you." --and the PD racer woke the next day to find no tent, no bike, and he felt somewhat... umm... dirty.
blah blah blah... just fun'n wit cha!

AT horsepower
I did a complete engine rebuild on my AT at 200,000km. hile I was inside the engine I did some mods;
1mm OS high comp pistons - these are a wiseco kit for the 650 hawk from the US, a 3mm OS on the 650 they needed some mods to the piston skirts so they didn't hit the AT crank, made the AT comprssion go from 9.2:1 to 10:1. i also had the heads flowed and the headers ceramic coated. I ran the bike in and it felt a bit gutless so I got a dynojet kit and had it jetted on a dyno. As you'll see from the graph below it was a big change, it was running so lean with standed jetting that it was only about 30hp and after jetting it was about 56hp bnoy did I get a pleasant surprise when I picked it up !!!!. The HP before the engine mods was about 48hp.

I'm still on the fence as to what kind of top box I want to run so... I just re-installed this setup that used to be on the Transalp. Not a bad fit on the AT, but it's not what I really want. To be continued...

Just stumbled on this thread.
Despite owning probably the best bike in the world .... I still want an AT so bad. Trouble is not much desert my way...I guess its this feeling that if I had one the desert would somehow come as an added option...Well just dreams for me at the moment but nice bikes and great pics, guys.
