Thank Q, after our little warm up in the Salida area, and the old Mountain Bike firing up, starting to get bad excited. Hell, even got the KTM990 out tonight for a spin.

Wish we could catch up on the trail again, I really enjoyed the ride and sharing your time.

You know Vance, if I had not been gone for 3+ months, I'd be real tempted to load up the bike and join you.

So, um... What ya doin' next summer?
Want to goto Alaska?

In the meantime, I'll follow your adventures on-line.

We were going to redo the NV and OR sections of the TAT as Vance had a close encounter with the ground around Battle Moutian, then maybe do the CDT. You should be in Mt by then No?

For those of you just joining us here, we do have a website set up to tell of this year's exploits. It has a SPOT track map, a fireeagle map, lots of other stuff, and you can supscribe to get Vance's spot updates in your e-mail. You do need to register to get into the good stuff, but we won't share your private info.

Link is: http://s93795793.onlinehome.us/enduroplanet/ . Not a special domain name, as I am too cheap to buy one right now.

We also have a breaking news item on the site that Vance and I will try to update via our cell phones as we get time. It will likely have the most current info.

Since everyone has already seen Vance's Mountain Bike and Anthony's Stealth bike, a few more pics of the iron we are taking to keep your appetite's whet:

Joe's nearly stock RT1 "Godzilla":

Dave's Hot Shot DT400 with 12 volt upgrade (among others) AKA the Pack Mule:

Mark's 1974 DT360 with a few upgrades. This bike is on it's maiden voyage as Mark has had a few problems on the last two trips.

My (Makotosun) DT400 with a few little upgrades.

There you have it.

What a long ass day. Cannot get anything done at work. Just sat and stared at the papers and computer all day, walked back and forth, got plenty of mile in for sure today. All I can think about is getting on the Mountain Bike. BigDog has me all screwed up with his RR, feeling a need for the mountains, but then I've never been back East so I'm excited about the unknown.

Already hearing all the strang noises the Mountain Bike puts out. Rattle Rattle, Pop Pop, whats that sound, nothing, just keep riding, better check the 2-stroke oil but then it should be ok, whats that sound mean and so the story goes on these old vintage bikes. On and On and On with all the what ifs. Finally, sit back and think --> Ok, I have done all I can do, new plug, changed oil, new tires, started the second kick, rode fine, sounded good, Screw it, just ride and enjoy.

Reread BigDogs Shadow of the Rockies Thread, three times today, what a great story he tells. Read GasPipes last ride, always a pleasure to read as well. Watched some of his DVD's here in the Sickle Shed. By the way, I highly suggest his DVD's. They are very cool. If one can't ride at least one can hear the bike, see the trail and dream a little. Not to mention, a good way to learn to travel lite.

Hard to concentrate when the bikes are sitting 10 feet from my desk. The WR250R has some new parts to put on it, couldn't even focus on that. Thinking about the ride, getting the chase truck on the road Thursday and all the distractions to the daily grind this life of Adventure Riding presents to oneself right before a trip.

I have to focus on this damn bid submission, but I find it is near impossible. FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 8 YEARS I am getting 2 weeks away from the job. Not sure how to handle that either. I have to live my work being self employeed, but I need the ride and the time to recharge my soul. ADVrider.com is a life saver when stuck to the daily grind, but then is it really today. Right now, this very moment, I find all the Ride Reports, so many of you have posted, only cloud my mind with adventure and make the task at hand nearly impossible. Get focused Vinnie, get focused.

Picture of my office. It's a mind game for me only days before a motorsickel ride. Yep, we been blessed at our place, but somehow I have to focus tomorrow. To many people depending on the next bid.

You know, when its all said and done. It really isn't about the bike, the gear or the destination. It is really about, getting on a machine with a motor and 2 wheels and the promise of Adventure. Not the WR, not the KTM, the Honda, Beamer, not anything specific bike. Just the Promise of Adventure. Yep, I think thats it, the Promise of Adventure.

Gotta get some sleep and have a productive day tomorrow.
