Chris, What tank bag & tank panniers are those.

All, I am really undecided on what to use for a tank bag on my recent 1150GSA purchase. Are there any threads that discuss what people have done. I want to balance something that works with the handlebars (both turning arc and crossbar), easy to get to the fuel cap, not too bulky towards the seat end so it doesn't get in the way when standing up on the pegs.... maybe what I just described doesn't exist or is impossible, but I welcome any feedback or titles of threads that already discuss.

Thanks.
Eric

Eric, the tank panniers are the Aerostitch full-size ones. I like them.

I've also been impressed with the Mountain Sun panniers when I've seen them at rallies or on bikes on the road. Another (cheaper) option, if it still exists, is from KLR650.com, IIRC. They are pretty much 'zactly like my Aerostitch ones.

I will say that tank panniers on an Adventure tank aren't the best fit. I have a 1200 Adventure, and the tank panniers really don't fit it well. They aren't horizontal on it, but they're goofily close. Find someone with a set and try them on your bike before you buy. (If you don't want to do that, though, you'd have no trouble selling them here in the flea market from what I've seen.)

My tank bag is a Chicane. I love it. It's an awesome bag. Unfortunately, the company is out of business. My next tank bag (after I completely wear out this bag and another Chicane that I have in reserve ) probably will be a Wolfman.

Chris

Hack

Bought my first GS last week! Flew to Phoenix and rode it 1500 miles home. Just finished this entire thread looking for farkling ideas. Surprised to see that nobody prior to me has posted a pic of an 1150 with a large farkle like the one attached to the right side of my new bike. Be warned--this particular mod affects the handling!

In Phoenix--

Somewhere in Nevada--

In California--

Oregon--

Shortcut over Pyramid Pass in Washington--

I've already started on the farkling process and will post up finished pics next Spring when it's done.
