Fortunately the price isn't to bad and I've budgeted about a grand for repairs if needed, so hopefully there is nothing more major than that. Based on everything I've seen and heard it should be a great bike for the price, used, but not abused. Still, you never know till it's in your hands, haha.
Looking forward to it anyway, will hopefully have things sorted to try the APC rally in May
Good stiuff
A few te have done the apc over the years.Heard one broke a subframe, don't think it had been strenghtened.Should be a blast.

I'm still loving my 630. Can't think of anything I'd trade it for. I'm getting it paid down, has close to 6K miles on it, trouble free. I don't get out on it as much as I should, the Tiger got over 9K miles in half the time. Lot of hiway on that one though.

The 630 needs chains and sprockets now, trying to decide on gearing. Maybe I'll go one or two more teeth down from 14/42. I still have my original 15T so I think I'll pickup a 46 or 47 rear and a new chain. My guide is bent
What's happening Chris.... Yes I'll be coming to DV for sure, leaving early Monday and riding to the Husky Memorial and desert area down that direction then be into Paniment Springs by dark. I'll be there for the week, riding with a friend whom just picked up a new F800GSA.

BRP makes a great chain guide, built like a tank......highly recommended. As for sprockets and such, I went down one tooth in the front and have been happy so I haven't looked at other options.......its worked great for my riding so why screw with it. That being said, I am looking at a new chain and spockets. Mines probably fine for another 1k miles but why chance it.

Paul, I'll be there for the week too, and bringing the same three bikes as last year. We'll have to hook up and go somewhere.

Yeah winter and a hard-to-find bike will do that.

What is there to write about?
All the niggles have been worked out, everything works, it's the best damn dualsport ever made, and it's just sitting there in the garage waiting for the next ride. Geez, talk about a boring bike.

I'm thinking I want to take mine into the bowels of Nevada, where hardly no man has ever ridden. I hear central Nevada is one of the most remote places in the country. Can't wait.

Got a trip coming up to Death Valley on it, that should be fun.

I guess I gotta get a new chain and sprockets. Done wore the originals out.
I need to change my fork oil too.

+1
Exactly, we're out riding and no need to go into lengthy banter back and forth about this mod and that mod like other bikes. Of course always a few non essential things that can be done. I would currently like to have a steering damper but not ready to drop the coin yet. Other than that it is gas, oil and regular maintenance only. And little of that required also. Valve check at 2,500 miles had to swap one shim and the two checks since haven't required any changes. Bike is now at 16,500 miles and running strong. Miles would be higher but I let the bike sit for an entire year while doing other types of riding. Took it out of hibernation to ride LA-Barstow to Vegas and have added 3,000 miles since. Recently tweaked my FI settings with iBeat and bike runs like a scalded ape now. Picked up lots of hp but it did drop my fuel usage down to 35mpg. Nice thing is I can switch it back in 2 minutes with my netbook and cable, no other tools needed.

Oh and one other mod coming soon. After nearly 17K miles in the saddle I'm finally ready for a Seat Concepts. Found a used seat on Ebay so I will modify that one. Wasn't ever willing to mod my stock seat as I wanted to keep it for single track days.

Cool....you came out here for LAB2V? How'd you like it?

We had a local contingency riding this year - they liked the low dust level for a change. They had some issues going thru Red Rock, bailed to the road and were first in at LV.

I'm too old for that shit...too much dust and too far. LOL. Seriously, we ride it outside the event to avoid the crowds. I know, some really enjoy that. It certainly is popular, some 400 to 500 riders every year.

I would really like to chip mine, think I'll pickup a JD tuner soon. Been waiting for wifey's job to kick in. Maybe a used one will come up.

I've been thinking about this lately. Is there a go-to damper for our bikes?

We're planning on Forever West/Heart of the West next Sept and there's a lot of hi-speed gravel there.

I put a JD tuner on mine when I installed the Leo Vince Ti exhaust, but have never changed any of the out of the box settings on the JD tuner. It ran so much better than stock, that I just slapped the seat back on and went for a ride. I'm sure it can be tweaked to wring some more power out of it, but haven't spent anytime researching what everyone else has set their's at and it's either experiment with that or spend the $$ for some dyno time.

I'm going to have to read the instructions again just to know how to change the settings.

One other thing....I've found that my Seat Concepts seat works just fine in tight woods riding. I never know that it's there when standing, but sure appreciate when I sit my big butt down.

I bought 2011 TE 630 last season. 2nd dual sport of the season after 20 years of not riding. Lovin it. A bit of a beast for my re- learning curve. But a FMF q4 and JD power FI tuner, holy crap, torque monster. Already looped it. Dang.
