Anbody riding trials in SE VA?

Is there anyone fairly nearby who rides trials? The closest thing to a trials bike I own is an XT225, but I see no reason that should deter me from riding trials now.

I would suggest that the same thing that's keeping you from riding trials is the same thing that's keeping you from competing successfully at motorcycle drag racing....

The XT225 ain't a drag bike, and it ain't a trials bike either. It's completely unsuited for both.

No low end torque, heavy, slow steering, etc. Exceptionally shitty bike for riding trials. Ask my buddy who brought his to ride non-comp with our Michigan club early this spring. 3 sections and he put it on the trailer and went home.

Not trying to dull your enthusiasm for trying trials, just trying to make sure you don't "throw out" the idea of trials because you tried it on a bike completely unsuited for it. For trials, you need a trials bike. Even if you're not trying to compete/be great in your class, a trials bike is a COMPLETELY different animal. Until you have one you won't understand that. So, go to one of your local trials club meets and watch, talk, listen, and maybe you'll be able to have someone let you try a short ride on their bike. That's what I did, and I understood after a short ride with a little coaching that you can't do trials without a trials bike, even if you're just doing it for fun. (Like me).

Last weekend at the ITSA Mountain west event a rider from texas had a ttr coversion that really looked good. A stocker is not even a cosideration. Buy a cheap vintage or like this guy did, different front end, twin shocks, Ty fiberglass tank.(really expensive, but cool).

I was not trying to give the impression that I believe the XT is a trials bike.

It is the bike I have now.

Sure it would suck at trials competition. That is no reason to believe that practicing trials riding technique on it will not make me a better rider.

With the right rider, the XT should be able to do all that is shown in this clip.

You guys now anyone near me who is riding trials?

Wish I lived in Virginia, I'd let you try my Beta! Good luck in trying some trials someday. Really cool, completely different kind of riding, great fun!
