The answer was no, I was on vacation last week. Dropped everything, it was marvelous. But, it was back to the grind yesterday. I should be able to get everyone hooked up today. I'm gonna go make coffee first.

Ride report of TET- Western, MA

Thanks again Chip for the GPS tracks! Rode the Massachusetts section of the TET this past Saturday. If anyone is interested, I put up a very brief ride report in Day Trippin' with a few pictures.

I used the TET (maybe not the most recent version) to get back to NYC from D.C. yesterday. I had the whole day to ride and I picked it up near Purcellville heading north. Took it to the I-81 / I-78 junction. Total of about 200miles of TET. It was a hoot. (sorry, no pix)

From Purcellville, there's more pavement than dirt. But it's nice -- lots of single-lane country roads, not a lot of driveways or distractions. Really nice routing the whole way. Once I hit PA, there was a lot more gravel and dirt, but nothing technical more than some ruts and bumps. I was riding the Terra Mostro with street wheels and tires, fully inflated. Think motard set-up. Overnight bag and tools only. There wasn't anything so tricky that I was concerned riding solo.

Boy do tires make a difference -- gravel felt like riding on ball bearings, I just slowed down, and took it easy. Had to keep my eye on the trail so as not to hit anything that would bend the cast rims -- BTDT.

My goal was to ride the TET another 100 miles or so to the Delaware Water Gap, (green line) and then blast home on I-80, but my average speed on the TET was about 30mph, and there's a bridge out / road closed where it crosses under I-81. As I was scouting on the GPS a go-around, I realized what time it was (3:30pm), and what time the sun set (6:30pm), and how far I was from home (144miles), and realized that if I didn't want to be riding for 14hours and well into the night I better scoot home. I'll be back, though -- it was fun.

The street tires / wheels earned their keep on the innerstate, that's for sure.
