I was looking at the TET gps files and there are two similar files: TETv1 and TETv2alpha. When I opened them in basecamp they look similar with some differences (extension of TET to PDR to CN border). I was wondering what the differences are since the PDF doesn't mention it.

I just have not finished the documentation on v2, hence the alpha release. The track logs are legit. I rode them personally to NB, except for TET15alt1 which was submitted by another inmate.

Don't want to sound ungrateful or rude, but any ETA on that documentation.

Not 100% sure this is the right place to ask this, but i RTFF's and so on...

I rode about 2,000 miles of the TET (1,000 each way) a few weeks ago. NYC to NC and back. I think it was sections 7 to 10 inclusive.

Am about to set off to do some of the Trans Am Trail and some of the Continental Divide. Have any of you done either, and can tell me how the TET sections I've done compare in difficulty?

Thanks

Have not done the TET or the TAT but have done the CDT. It is easy peasy on a motorbike but take your hats off to the bicyclist. In the 2,000+ miles you might encounter some minor difficulties (Fleecer Ridge) if you are riding a heavy loaded down beast.

If you have run some of the alts in TET, you are fine. If you haven't, some of the TAT is what I term "blue".

TAT vs TET

I've done all of the above....

as Chip said, parts of the TAT are equivalent to the alts on the TET, but those sections are pretty much from Colorado west.

The TAT and CDR both have much higher passes and higher average elevation compared to the TET. (again, from Colorado westward)

Overall the TAT is more challenging than the CDR, both have interesting places...

TAT - Warloop in AR (which is a joke to what comes later), the high passes in CO, Green River to Salida UT, west of Richfield UT, mile 50 in NV, west of Eureka NV, north of Battle Mt NV, from McDermott NV all the way to CA, the mountain in CA.

CDR - Fleecer Ridge in MT, the ATV route in ID, north of Del Norte in CO, the first section in NM, and finally the section south of Cuba if it's raining.

Just my 2 cents worth....
