It was the most riding I've been able to get into one trip to Moab yet.
It was also the first time I had the new-to-me 525 out, so it was a true shakedown trip. We rode into the slickrock area by the Sand Flats pay kiosk just past Lion's Back. When we stopped to pay, one of the guys said "hey, you're leaking coolant" at the same time I was smelling it. Sure enough....dribbling down onto the ground. I was pretty sure it was my install of the temp sensor in the coolant hose, but after taking the tank and seat off, that area was bone dry. Not coming out of the overflow either. Turned out it was coming out of the water pump housing - those 8mm nuts were all a bit loose. Tightened them up - no more leak for the whole trip. Later out at Gemini Bridges, the clutch started slipping badly after we'd been out a few hours. The bike has a new clutch pack and springs.... and happily this turned out to be needing a bit of adjustment at the clutch perch (I put on new levers before the trip). So two things that looked like they might be trip ending issues turned out to be easily sorted on the first day - the bike was perfect the rest of the trip.

![]() I jumped it....that was my second time over it, and I didn't know there was another way coming from the way we did. I just pointed and launched. We met a group of 8-10 bikes coming the other way that took the low spot next to the jump mostly....though a couple of them rode over some stacked rocks near the end of the crack. (maybe that's the easy route you're referring to?)

Sheesh, what kinda hack worked on that bike before? Glad to hear things were easily sorted. In related news, the XR has developed a stumble that I'm having a hell of a time diagnosing. Nothing some time in the shop won't cure, dammit.
