Aside from those 3 fumbles.......

........ it wasn't a bad game. Too bad Da Bonks lost. But they still hold the AFC-West, 'cause Detroit beat the Raiders.

Well, thats the last time i use o'reilly auto parts for anything.
Clutch cable broke on the bus today. Obviously the regular vw places are closed, so i call around the 'regular' places. Advance says they have one and its 3 days out, napa doesnt have one, car quest has one, its a week out. So on so forth till i get to o'reilly. After asking me if its fuel injected, a regular or a camper, they say they have one at their warehouse.
A few hoop jumps later and the gf who is out and about goes by there and picks it up.
I get the box, open it up, and its not even remotely the right part. Some goofy plastic adorned cable-in-a-tube thats 2 feet long. What i need is a looooong steel cable with a threaded rod on the end. I was on the phone with those retards for 20 minutes making absolutely sure that the part they're selling me is the right one. I can excuse once or twice but this is the third time they've cocked up a part order. No more business from me :grr

I went to my local O'Rielly a few months ago to see if they had an aftermarket EGT gauge (Exhaust Gas Temperature - for a diesel). Even after explaining what "EGT" stood for the kid just kept looking at me like I just made it up.

Thank God for the internet!

Seriously.

Unfortunately where the bus is, it shouldnt really be there very long. That, and the lack of transportation (i have the bike but 15-20* rides in the morning are beyond my limit) rules the internet out on this one. I'd happily hop on one of the dozen sites i know of and it'd be here wednesday but i need the part yesterday in this case.
What's nice about brick and motor stores (i mean, the ones that arent staffed by lobotomized teenagers) is you can have the part in your hands, or talk to a real person. That's why i like to use napa. In this case, there's a good chance someone at napa or carquest (infrequently, lately it seems) would have pulled it off the shelf, looked at it and thought "This doesnt seem right, let me check". Instead the box got pulled off a shelf, flopped on the counter, and the kid continued texting his bros (i assume).
Seems like anymore, the only good the actual parts places are for is buying pre packaged generic items like light bulbs, oil and cleaners. You're much better off just hitching a ride until your internet order comes in for model specific stuff.

Why would someone (me) be excited about being able to go up Floyd Hill at 60mph? Because that was in a 10,000# RV that used to climb it at 45mph MAX. That was floored in 2nd gear. New diesel engine and manual transmission and it actually climbs like it has a purpose.

I installed the EGT and Boost gauges today so I took it for a stress test run. No problems! The coolant temp went up a little but still well within normal limits, boost steady at 18psi and EGT around 1000*F under full load.

Excited about your results, man. Diesels are fun, if nothing else. Speaking of which, do any diesel pilots know where you can buy Dee-Zol diesel additive in the Denver area. This is the first time I have spent cold months in Colorado with my Dodge diesel and I want to improve the mileage from mixed winter fuel, etc.

Tebow actually showed some major progress. His first passes were with a relaxed arm and he looked like he might evolve into a real passing quarterback. Course, they should have had more plays with Mike Ball, my favorite Bronco.
