*tic*

That, was not a problem of the suspension, but a problem with the momentum and my soft, soft wheel rims.

And my short fucking legs

Sigh I need to stop looking at 690's with RR fairings....

I was teasing.. happens to all of us.
I'm just sad to see KTM give up the "ready to race" in the adventure lineup and become another company trying to build a bike for the masses. We all know the fact is that 99.5% of owners will ride to a starbucks and 0.5% will ever try anything like a 29% offroad-watermellon-strewn-grade.

They should have rebranded it the AdventureTouring or something?

Which is why the new one is shorter and has a lower saddle. You stubby bastards are fucking it up for the rest of us.

I change my oil every 3500-4000 miles.

I'm still planning on using my 990 ADV as a dirt tourer, pass bagger & probably won't be doing too many suspension mods.

The KLX450R is the bike to wail on in the ruff schtuff.

...but yeah, the non-R bikes were lower (but this is the R bike - the new non R model is 190 mm which is 30mm less than any adventure has ever had).

I want nothing to do with ABS or traction control. Sliding my 950 around is one of my favorite things. Lets hope the off/on is a toggle switch and not reset every time you turn on the key... ask current ABS owners how much fun that is every time we stop.. I think rtadlock wore a hole in his glove having to hold that damn ABS button down

Low exhaust sucks.. one of the nice things with the current bike is the exhausts are tucked under so you have lots of room for luggage and you can toss the things in the rocks without touching an exhaust can.

less plastic is cool - 24 liters of fuel up high is not.

Fly by wire: how do you fix that on the trail or in bolivia when you break a sensor? I can fix a throttle cable.

Saddle looks like a disaster to me - I want to be up and over an offroad bike.. not down and in one.

..but like you said; I'm sure it'll be much more awesome in person rather than in internet-speculation

The single thing I hated the most about my 990 was the 5 second push on the ABS button. I hate ABS. I like to come in hot to every corner, back that bitch in, and shred out of the corner. Non of those shanangins are happening with ABS.

For the last year I've been telling one of my good riding buddies from college that the 990 is the only big dual sport on the market that is suitable for real off roading, and how KTM makes shit for dirt riders. Guess I'll give that up. To those of us that really ride the 990 hard off road, we can see exactly why this bike won't work. Screw it. I'm buying another 990 (an R this time so I don't have to deal with the F*cking ABS!), and hopefully at a discount when the new road bikes get here.

Oh, and BTW, one thing I never ever said when riding my 990 was, "Man, you know what would make this bike even better? A few more pounds and a little less clearance for when I drop off this next step."

At the gas station when someone asks me what the heck my 950 is and what's up with its design I tell them:
"it was designed this way because of it's race heritage and it is based upon a bike that was designed and used to race offroad across africa."

If I bought an 1190 I'd have to reply that:
"it was designed this way to compete with all of the other "adventure" bikes on the market. It isn't the best in any particular way but it is aimed right at the middle of the market for maxium sales."

...boy do we sound like a bunch of whiny little girls or what?

Y'know.. if they'd release this thing for under $15K in mass quantities so I could get one.. I'd go buy one right now and shut up and wish the 1190 crew all the best rides to starbucks every

...better yet, take this format and throw a lightweight 800cc twin in it.
