The amber pilot light won't come on, changed cords and outlet, I'm using the computer with an old CRT monitor to write this.
Is there a fuse or something replaceable, or do I have to buy a new monitor?

The colors on the west side of Gore Pass were amazing, two days ago.
I've had to change caps on three monitors so far. Keep digging, this is the most likely problem. If it is not the caps themselves, which it most likely is, it could be a bad solder joint. I've never heard of a display just quit working without it being a dried out electrolytic cap.

Put reverse bias across the electrolytic capacitors. If it's good, it will explode.

Tantalum caps are the best. Loud and bright.

But the big electrolytics aren't too bad either.

"We were using it and heard a pop, checked the box and there was stuff leaking out of it."

Looking like fall!

Finally getting some rain, fire bans lifted in Moffat County. Snow must be just around the corner

A number of Samsung TVs were built with the powersupply caps that were undersized. Add a little heat and they bulge out and quit working. So there might not be a different problem. The owner should do a google search on the monitor and or the powersupply. Then increase the size on the replacement caps.
