Well take your time then please

The month of November is supposed to be great in CO weather wise (60s-70s). Today there was still some snow up on Storm though. I'll post a few pics from the ride somewhere after dinner.

The forks and shock are going to Dave Rose/STM after riding shearboy's Sherco (omg).
I looked at the pic without reading your text and knew exactly where the Boingers were going.

I didn't do it, but I'd guess that much of the Rainbow is rideable. Fourmile is most likely dry and dusty as ever.

Storm Mtn FS 128 Today

Today's ride around on Storm Mountain. Temps were great and the snow stayed out of sight until above 8,800ft. Once there however it was snow and slush city. I wasn't unable to get all the way up Storm but did make some miles on the other road that heads out towards Buckhorn Canyon but the number escapes me right now...

FS 128 about 8k ft

Slippery slush

DOT Tires

What are you running for DOT approved tires on your trail bike? These would be for my KTM 450 EXC that would be mostly ridden in the dirt but I want a good set for things like group rides that go from one trail to another via short pavement stints. ..also to pass the Colorado CSP inspection for licensing for street use.

I know the Pirelli Scorps and Kenda TM IIs are somewhat common, what are my other choices and what works best in CO? Thanks in advance. Also let me know if there is another thread I should be posting this to...I didn't see one.

I have Kenda k270's on my DR and am pretty happy with them. Dirt cheap too, maybe too cheap for a KTM. Not sure what the ADV consensus is on them, but they seem pretty good for the 50/50 riding I end up doing.

Sweet! Thanks all...I don't want to tie up the whole thread with my tire question. I do appreciate all the responses. Ideally I'll work towards another set of rims with the trials or K270s (my KTM isn't too good for them) as i can see plenty of uses for them but considering I ride about 80+% off road with this particular bike I'll probably try out the MT21/D606 combo while I save some dosh for another set of wheels/tires. I ride right out of my driveway onto fire roads and trails which is where the vast majority of my rides take place due to convenience if nothing else. Through the winter months I'll probably be out at Pawnee or VDR (which I've never been too) when not riding my local trails (they close Dec. 1st). Next year though I hope to get out with a bunch of you all a lot more!

One last question: How is the MT21 front on hard packed fire roads with loose gravel on them?

Cheers

My MT 21 I ride everywhere. County road with pea gravel, fire roads, single track, baby heads, snow and sand works for me just fine. I am sure there are others out there better. But my needs and price range perfect.
