My biggest online grammar faux pas is my complete overuse of ellipsis suspension points... But I just love those dot-dot-dot's!
Nothing wrong with ellipses... they work great in forums for indicating pauses and breaks where you'd [you would] rather not stick in a colon, semicolon or dash.

##RANT ON##
The thing that bugs me is the faux pas above (and it's [it is] becoming more common than I'm [I am] comfortable with)!

"Kid's"

KID'S WHAT???

"The kid's mother"
"The kids' mother"
"The kid's alright".

I think the use of apostrophes for pluralization is being perpetuated lately because everyone's [everyone is] seeing it used this way so much online. Yes, there are a few exceptions where you can use them to pluralize (VERY FEW! Some abbreviations; usually just acronyms).

Apostrophes Common Usage...

1. Possession
"The kid's mother"

2. Contraction
"The kid's alright". (ie: "The kid is alright")

3. Pluralization
990 CC's (one of the rare cases ~ this is acceptable, but so is 990 CCs)

So, next time you see a hair salon with the following, "Walk In's Welcome", you know they hired a moron to do their signage.

There's an office building near where I live and it has a giant sign on it that says "Schafer CPA's".

Why is it OK to pluralize CCs with an apostrophe?

Apostrophes should never be used to pluralize anything; I think that was the entire point of David's rant.

'cause it looks better. It also sets off the 's' so you do not think it is part of the abbreviation. Simply going lower case is not really enough.

Now parentheticals... there is joy!

Damn. Dropped in an extra apostrophe! I'm usually pretty good about not pluralizing with them, but sometimes the fingers get ahead of the brain, and both o.k. the submit button before proofing...

Bonus points: In what special case do you always use an apostrophe to pluralize?

Probably cheaper to insure on set/location than Matt Damon.

Been messing around with the burst image capture on the GoPro:

Untitled

This was a hand held shot, so I could only blend a few images. Can't wait to mess around with this more after I buy a tripod.
