I don't think there's a 2013 Webster Pass Opening Date poll thread yet.... but it's going to be a while before you can even see a cornice. Those mountains got a fresh dumping on Saturday it looked like - solid white.
You couldn't even make out an outline of a pass heading towards the saddle
It snowed really hard over by Tarryall Saturday afternoon but none of it stuck. Up higher however it did. Blake is right, Webster will take a while to open this year.

I saw somewhere that with the April snow that area is now at 103% for the year. The Indian Peaks/RMNP are at 102%.

The San Juans: 38%

We are dry as all get out in the SJ and La Plata mountains. We need the rain but all we seem to get is virga.

I might have guessed even less for the San Juans.

We had lunch in Durango on Saturday and drove up 550.
It was a little depressing how little snow there is on those mountains.

Coming west on 160 we got detoured by a fire department truck to the south at 151, and had to detour 151/172 via Ignacio. I'd never been on that road, so it was a pleasant detour and we were on no schedule... but I wonder what it was that caused the detour between 151 and Durango?

We had a friend get hijacked on her way from Durango to Salida because of that. Supposedly was an overturned gas tanker truck that spewed it's contents everywhere.

Guess it's not just Colorado where the bicyclists are aplenty...

I checked cotrip.org yesterday and it said that there was an accident/hazmat spill there, so an overturned tanker sounds plausible.

Talk about solid evidence of reckless driving for the court case(s) against the motorcyclist. Runs wide, never slows... it's like he wasn't even looking up.

That corner is notorious for motorcycle accidents.

Is it going to snow again?

Might be my fault!

Wife was "encouraging" me to get rid of the old sport bike...She thinks riding on dirt might be safer...guess she doesn't know what a 2-stroke can do Last dirt bike I owned was a 1974 yamaha DT 175....this has a little more get up and go

As soon as I get all my final exams given and graded I'll be looking for someone willing to ride with an "old" newby!
