A bad day for Yahoo! mail and their clients....

I have every confidence they are workng to protect my emails from the NSA data thieves.

I'll likely find that Yahoo! automatically signed me up for O'bumble care. It'll be cheaper that way....

Can we go back to talking about non-tech things? I visit this site to get AWAY from work.

My first gig out of school I was working for a company with a fairly large dataset (100's of millions of rows) and I ran a SQL update in the prod environment and didn't include the "where" clause. I had two instances open and just copy pasted from my dev instance to the prod instance and ran it without checking well enough.

Any who, I deadlocked that sucker good and our whole system was down for about an hour during business hours as I was at least not too dumb to wrap it all in a rollback and we had to let things run their course so the SQL command would hit the rollback.

I was sweating bullets the next day when I deadlocked it again but for a different reason. Having the lead dev and CTO asking me every five minutes when we would be back up was not fun.

Fortunately, we were under a huge time crunch and were playing fast and loose to meet an impossible deadline and I'd worked every day for six weeks straight at that point so they were pretty understanding.

edit: sorry Geek

that looks awesome. I was lucky enough to get a ride in the Red Barron Pizza stunt biplanes many many years ago. It was quick, only about 20-30 minutes, did a corkscrew, flying inverted, and the climb to stall, then fall. I wish I could do it again.

However, it was quite alarming when they give you the 10 minute review of what lever to pull to let your parachute out in case shit goes wrong.

Getting in some final local rides for the season. Seems a few of the trails got a touch of flood damage.
